Such a thing as Super Fake Page Rank for Sites?

    Hello all,

I was browsing through the link exchanges and link sales section for one of my possibly new sites in the works and I came across this "wts pagerank 8 50/month" thread... interesting right?

So I automatically had to know what this url was because I thought it had to be bogus for that amount of money per month!!

So, the guy sent me the url and I checked it at

http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php and the url said Pagerank 8, so I was alright, maybe this is legit, but I had to check some others out and they said Pagerank 8. http://www.seologs.com/pr-check/pagerank.html

Finally, I searched for "fake pagerank" "check fake pagerank" and came across

    http://www.database-search.com/sys/pre-check-en.php

and tried it out... What do ya know?!? It says that its fake and the real pagerank belonged to qq.com.. Checked it out and qq.com had legit pagerank 8...

So, after all of that, I just wanted to make sure and looked through a list of the pagerank 8 sites known and qq.com showed up and the bogus one didn't.

The checked google's backlink count for the bogus site and it said 20,900 and I was like, Jeez, I think that is enough for a Pagerank 8, well I did the same thing for the bogus site, What do you know?!? It said the same 20,900 backlinks as qq.com!

So, I guess my questions is... Is this some kind of Super Fake Pagerank where this guy hacked into google's data centers or what? I am lost here and curious to know what you all think! Is this guy a pioneer or are a lot of people able to pull this kind of thing off?

I mean, If I were him; 1) I wouldn't go for pr8 but like 7 and def wouldn't put that cheap of a price because it just looks too good to be true!

Let me know your thoughts... :D

Some people manage to fool google bots by redirecting their domains to some other high PR domain. But it's difficult to maintain that PR for long. Best method is to try info:domain.com query, if the query returns some other domain instead, you have found a fake pagerank website.

If you have doubt on the PR showing in different PR toolbars, check Google Toolbars. Sure, it will show accurate PR of a website.

info:domain.com seems to be the best and easiest way to check FAKE pr.. Thanks

Obviously not if I am posting this thread.. people are cheating google toolbars and thats why its fake pagerank.. I understand that this happens, but I was just curious to see if this was a special case, but it looks like this is the way that everyone achieves fake pagerank... redirecting to higher pagerank hence the same amount of back links in google and info:domain.com showing the site that they redirect to.

    Thanks

It's easy to get a fake PR by doing a 302 redirect and letting the redirect run for a few months. After you turn the redirect off you will have a good PR until Google does it's update. That may take 2-3 months. Quite a few scammers do this and then try to sell links on the page before the PR flips back to zero.

The way to check for fake PR is to use tools like http://www.database-search.com/sys/pre-check-en.php and also find the incoming links that are supposed to be for that site. http://www.seo-forensics.com can find those links for you.

Click on the resulting links and see if you can spot the url of the page you're checking. If it's fake PR you won't be able to.
