    Myspace is a trademark and Fox has been shutting down sites that use it in their URL.

    That list is nothing but potential trouble

    ^ Very true. However, you could have various names that are alterations. One current example (in use) is "my pimp space." - such names are not trademark infringements, yet are still marketable.

    To find out that any url with myspace is being shut down.
    Okay, the list will be removed and a new one added shortly.
    How about "mypimpspace" as url.
    Is that okay?

    Just deleted out the myspace urls list.
    Added new list "mypimpspace" urls.

    Actually after I read that I did some research on this. The first letters were sent out in January this year. Myspacesupport (the largest site with trademark infringement) received one also. There has also been a couple of other sites that have received the letter also.

    But all sites still exsist and "imo" they are never going to push the issue.

    But of course they always can if they want to and it is never wise to to this. Even though I have. :)

    I talked to the guy from Myspacesupport. He knows one of the previous owners of Myspace (Tom I think) and got to some sort of agreement with them.

    Fox already managed to get hold of many domains... they could go out to hunt for more any day, the trademark violation would be there and it is just too risky.

    iowadawg, anything that doesn't say myspace in the url would be ok. I am building a site right now and trying to think of a name for it was quite a task, hope you can make a list soon in case I build another site :D

    I wasnt trying to say that Fox wont be going after more domain names. I was just saying that they havent been pushing the issue too much as of yet. :)

    The ones that are real dogs are the Ebay lawyers... I remember checking stuff at overture and seeing that ebayisapi.dll had a lot of searches. So, I went and registered ebayisapidll.com thinking I sould build some site later on... took just a few days to get a C&D from them :D

    Ya I had Oprah send me a letter wanting my domain www.oprah-winfrey.net from me. I just deleted the site and canceled the domain and was done with that one. I am not interested in messing with Oprah. :)

    I have a domain with ebay in the url.
    Have not heard from them yet.

    Fryman, give me some keywords and I will run up a list or two or three.

    If those lawyers, whomever, come into dp forums, they will have fun with all the myspace in the domain names that are for sale, have been sold, etc.
    One just sold today on the site forum...wonder if the people involved knew of this?
