    Hi,
i got a rant this evening, and i need help b4 i bang my head someplace

Now my site/ Dir. has been online for over an year, and i finally got time to sit down and spent the last few days cooking myself a good renew subscription mod!, .... basically a list with expiered links, ... checkbox ... , i click a buton and the renew subscription mail goes,... the task afcourse also helping me clean some bad sites in my dir also ! ...

but my problem started today, when after 2 days of sending emails to people, and getting no renewals i was taken aback ... coz majority of sites in my dir are doing good,... first page of google!

the problem pin pointed was majority of sites were submitted by submission companies and people who do submission services at DP, under their own name, and email !!!

so all renew emails are going to them, and then probably in the trash instead of people who own those sites!

does anyone face this dillema .... anyone with a solution!!!

    M.

Go to the site directly to contact the owner!

12 months changes a lot, many submitters wont want another year, simply a year can change the whole picture for a webmaster.

There needs to be a good incentive for them to renew too, offering discounts for their past custom or anything?

When we submit clients sites to directories they often want us to make a tempory email account like gmail or yahoo just to deal with the emails.

Few businesses will want their own inbox clogging with hundreds of emails.

Pipes again is right on the money. Many won't renew, many reasons for this including:

    • They just want a one-time fee listing/link
    • Didn't get ROI as far as they see it!
    • Made a mistake when listing/and realised it
    • Unauthorised payment went through
    • Distrust in directories
    • Client wants unreasonable level of traffic
    • False claims were made about directory service
    • Directory fee is too high
    • Pressure selling

It can be anything, and you'll rarely find out why or get feedback as to why a client doesn't renew - BUT you need to find this out and fast.

umm... long task, but the best suggestion yet! :)

thanx pipes, lemme see what i cook up here! maybe tweaking my renew email more, currently im showing all people dir.vc is on the first page on google for their sites!

:) i would do that too! but on this side of the fence,... seems im in the corner!

@Red_knight - i will find out if and when the perspective owners read my renew email, ive been sending a couple of mails a day,.... looking at my logs, i just hit a couple of submission service emails (same email for multiple sites), and may be a half a dozen actual owners! :(

    long task ahead!

    Thanx for the replies!
