I think its true.If he got good site with good alex rank(Alexa rank cant be falseOne can earn that amount.
er so a few of you are crying that some one can make $10,000 a day...forget $10,000 a day, it's $30,000 a day...
Yeah i posted that on page 2 aswell, also if you check out the forum which has millions of posts, the fact on the site a bit ago there was over 30,000 users online the site which i also think is true its easily believable the site is making that. As said already look at the overture for online dating and his posistion for that keyword alone who knows how many other keywords he has top rankings for.
He must be making enough money because currently online users are over 20K Just think how many clicks he would have to recieve to reach $10K .
900,000 Canadian = 803,000 USD, so around $23,000 a day then. Even though im sure in equivelant standard of living you can live better in Canada for 900k Canadian then you could in America for 900k USD.
Because we all live in igloos?? Vancouver's cost of living is just under SF's and London's... Avg. family income: $57,000. Average price of Vancouver house: $705,000. http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/....html?id=ff7fd1e0-f52e-4de7-af5b-6117dc6cded5
Didnt mean it specifically just in general things are cheaper in Canada than America? Dont know if he lives in Vancouver though.
Well Canada is a big place... nearly the same width as America It has many different economies depending on location. $80,000 buys you a 3 bedroom house in Arkansas or a parking spot in San Francisco. You can't really generalize a country, eh?
I will say if I could make that kind of money I would leave Texas and the ol US of A and head north to canada! My favorite place in this world is whistler in British Columbia!
If I chip in for a bus ticket, will that help get rid of you? Maybe your new Canadian buddies will also help out.
For those who think Markus made up the numbers to get links, I was actually ranking #1 on msn.ca for "plentyoffish" and bringing in over 500 uniques a day for several days. People were linking to the blog stories about him, not plentyoffish.com, and they sure weren't using "online dating" as the keywords. Markus told me that the SE traffic was actually a small % of his overal traffic as he advertises on the radio in canada. Right now his site is ranking as the #30 top site in Canada according to Alexa and #330 overall from websearch. Is Markus smart enough to create bogus data to get these rankings? I imagine so, but why? So, assuming the data is real $10,000 is hardly a stretch, its actually pretty modest. There are big traffic sites on the web that easily pull in millions a year in profit despite having millions in expenses. As for why he's babbling out the numbers, its because his site has reached a critical mass that makes it very difficult for competitors to copy him, and I'm sure he'd go for a buy out at the right price. I was a little annoyed at the way shoemoney addressed the issue on his blog, but as far as I am concerned this issue is long over and done with. As a blogger I get get pulled in to the middle of these things, while as a business person I'd prefer to stay far away from the drama. The only reason I'm posting on this thread is because I saw the hits in my stats, and I think its fair to post here as the link to the interview as well as shoemoney's post is pretty old now. (in internet time)
OT shows over 1.1mil searches a month for the term "online dating". I think that, plus the fact that the site has been online for years now, would pull in a large number of visitors. The best part I like about the website is that it'll continue to grow and grow and grow and grow. We should be seeing a really big check if Markus cares to show us
