I'm wanting to republish some pages from one of my sites on to another. Using wp-omatic seems like a quick and easy way to do this, but how does google view this kind of practice?
Well i would advice you not to do it.. Google is now very strict on duplicate content. Earlier if you provided the content source then you could have got away with the penalty but now even providing the source link does not help.. Well so i dont think you should do it..
Even i think you shouldn't doinf such kind of practice. You not only have to pay the penalty but your and the other person's site which you are using for the content, both will be banned by google.
LOL The stupidest thing I've heard this month! Imagine that I would set up a shitty site and scrap all my competitors content so they will be banned. Shame on the SEO links you carry on your sig, pal...
If you copy a content from another page already indexed by Google - the page you place the copied content to will have a hard time getting indexed by Google
soap bubbles make this global economy to crash what you do is just another soap bubble wasting G resources for dup content it UNethical, stingy and lazy u want more traffic/more $, then create more unique content and work more / harder the planet is already over-saturated with dup content / site scrapers its time to clean up and free the www for unique content and quality
google hates duplicate content, just link to the writers page with a small quote of the article "50 words"
I take it everybody's just reading the thread title and not what I've actually written. I'm not intending to steal anybody's content. It's my content, and I want to republish it on a new site. The actual text is only 1 paragraph and I will rewrite this. The rest of the page is an image and model specifications, which are taken from manufacturers sites. Copy and pasting specifications from manufactures is common practice in ecommerce, and I believe no site gets penalised for this. So, as an example say I have a site that has original content related to car exhausts, I then want to make a site related to cars in general. Would it be unethical of me to scrape the content from the car exhausts site to the car site, rephrase the text and publish it? Would I be penalised for this?
i am getting fed up of these scrapers. past couple of weeks i have had near enough instant track backs to a post, so i check it out, only to find my whole article appears on this other blog, same titles, same words. talk about rage!! just hope google realises i wrote them first!
Don't get them all to your new site, you can get some and make some better articles/contents for the new one.
I've scraped shops to create my own shop - after register in directories my shop (2 000 pages) become indexed in 3 days.
Yes, you're right. You can safely rewrite the paragraph and copy the specification. Therez no duplication here
As an SEO I make it a point that my content is unique its because Google consider this as a factor in getting good rank on SE.
I suggest you skip 90% of the posts in this thread that mention "banning" etc. and read what Google actually has to say about it. http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2006/12/deftly-dealing-with-duplicate-content.html
