What kind of strategies do you mainly implement for backlinks?

 

Usually I focus on two. One is to continue adding unique contents and then get natural backlinks through link baiting. Another is through forum posting with url embedded as signature links.

 

Forum Posting, Articles and Social Bookmarking

 

Posting useful content. - It gets passed around a lot.
Social bookmarking. - Sometimes this helps your PR too.
Commenting on blogs. - Contribute to the convo or drop a link. Can assist with PR and maybe some traffic.

I am starting a freight broker business, does anyone think its best to post in directories

 

@freightguy My suggestion would be only if you find niche directories for small business to get good backlinks. Or maybe a site like this 'Transport Topics Online' will get you backlinks if you can get an article to them. They are listed as a freight broker directory and they have a classified section and banner exchanges. Similar sites could work for backlinks.

I sometimes post an article to a directories than submit it to RSS mix to get fast back links.

 

Providing quality and interesting content so that more sites will naturally link to you. Others would be forum posting, blogging and article submission.

I will usually exchange blog reviews, write press release and submit articles to article directories.

 

In certain industries/niches, a traditional PR approach works well. Create a list of every blog in your niche and the topics they cover. Should be a huge list. When you write what you feel is a really great post, start emailing them about it and see if anyone else picks it up. Try to keep something on your site like an image or a video that they need to link to... that way when other people find your story from their blog, they'll link to you and not to the other blog.

Do you mean you add all the directory's RSS feeds to an RSSmix?

 

I guess link exchanging is not very popular nowadays, right? As for articles, where do you usually post your articles?

 

Press releases are also good to get some backlinks and that can brings you some traffic and sales.
