How to promote my Word Press blog

I was wondering if anyone had advice on plugins or other sites that would help me promote my wordpress blog

 

You can submit ur site to search engine, blog directory like MyBlogLog, or to social bookmarking site like Digg, StumbleUpon.

 

social bookmarking, blog commenting are the best i believe. it will bring targeted traffic.

 

Commenting on other blogs is a really effective way of promoting a blog. Comment often, and you'll find yourself a new influx of readers and visitors.

 

comment seriously in other blogs, blogcatalog.com is a good social site to promote it, digg, stumbleupon, etc.. also if you want you can build an adwords campaign

Other than that go for social bookmarking, RSS feeds, Blog commenting, and join Blogging communities as well, like technorati etc..

 

Social bookmarking is the best and easiest way.
Reddit and Stumbleupon are two good visitor sources.

 

there aren't really wordpress plug-ins that would directly submit your site to directories but they do have that commentluv plug-in that leaves a link of your latest posts to blog comments you make. That help a lot not only with backlinks but with traffic too.

do blog directories work at all?

 

Some can be good for direct traffic, some can be good for SEO (backlinks)

 

Be careful, not use illegal method to promote your blog. Google SE penalizes your blog.

 

what are considered illegal methods?

 

I guess he is talking about spamdexing, farm links, buying links

 

Make sure you are using All In One SEO and Google XML sitemap. And make sure that you use GOOD tags.
