Is You Tube a good Marketing option?

I have seen that some advertise their sites by uploading a Video of the site to You Tube.
    My questions really are:

Does this method of advertising actually work?
Any one have a tips as to the best way to approach it?
Any good or bad reports from anyone doing this?

    Cheers

I just went to Alexa and checked on the most visited websites.

    1. Yahoo
    2. Google
    3. Youtube

Do you think it would help promote your site if you had it advertised on the third most visited site on the web?

If nothing else, Youtube is a high ranking authority site, so the backlink alone carries a ton of weight.

Hello, i was also thinking this, there is either two ways to do it, make a video about your product, or make a video fo something popular and attach your link to it.

I'm not sure which is best, if either are good. Hope we get some answers here.

    Have a nice day.

Youtube does work, but there are also a stack of other video sites with better quality videos. I use Metacafe, Google video, Rever and a few others.

One suggestion is to put your keyword phrase in the title of the video. Another suggestion is to promote the url of the video using article marketing to raise it's profile.

Want an example? If you go to google.com.au (Australia), and do a search on Brisbane SEO Training you will notice spots 4 and 5 are videos.

    Yes, it works well.

My primary form of promotion is through videos. On average my get around 12,000 - 15,000 views a day. Youtube is also the 4th highest source of traffic to my site, beating out msn, and ask jeeves. You take your brand name or site address and put it in front of 12,000 - 15,000 people every 24 hours, and someone is going to visit your site.

But the videos have to be designed a certain way and the video description has to be a certain way to get the people to go to your site.

Here is my youtube channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/survivalistboards

I do all of my own filming, editing and publishing.

To answer your question directly, yes, youtbe can get you very targeted traffic, but its not an over night success story. It takes a lot of work, dedication and time. And those are the three things that a lot of people are not willing to do.

I think the point of using youtube is not for backlink. So I think it is ok even if it is nofollow.
