I've seen many web sites announce that they set up the US bank account for any person in the world, but I don't have a good idea about its success. However I feel that its not a good idea to remotely set up a bank account in another country.

As far as I understand, foreign banks such as US Banks do have international branches but they are still deemed as local banks as far as the accounts are concerned. Some such banks would be incorporated locally and be subjected to local laws but the only thing is that their shareholders are foreign. They do have arrangement with the other banks in their group across the globe and may over international banking.

Other banks may be operating as offshore banks and typically they are not allowed to accept local customers but some may have exceptions which allow them to deal with the rich or ultra rich in your country to invest in offshore investments.

So even if you open a bank account of a US bank which is located in your country, it would still not be deemed your bank account to be a US bank account.

Some banks like HSBC may assist you in opening a bank account in the US but usually there would be very strict rules and may require you to deposit large sums of money and you may need to prove that you are going to relocate to the US in a reasonable time frame.

The other way may be to travel to the US and open a bank account face to face.

The thing is that US Banks now have strict rules is after what happened after 9/11 and want to elimate a way in which foreign terrorist cells from remotely setting up US bank accounts for their activities. Banks now must comply with the 'Know Your Customer' regulations and they can normally do that if they can see you.

i think you can only do so from a US bank branch in your country like american express etc
try to get the info from any branch of a US bank in your country , they be the best people to answer your calls but i think you need big amounts to open an account in such banks

you do not need big amounts of money, just contact international departments of big banks like CITI, HSBC, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, etc

I am also looking to open a us bank account .I search a lot and found most economic way to open a us bank account for non resident alien is
if u have a friend in US
create an llc in any tax heaven ,being your friend as director nominee
then he/she goes to a local branch open an account in company name then resigns
this will avoid limitations of offshore bank for nonresident alien (only withdraw fund from paypal to offshore us bank and not other way around)
this is I understand from my research not 100% sure about all this
if someone know more about it please share
I have a friend in US, but not sure which agency to choose there are lot offering llc creation
many may be scams, and not got a complete idea of all these and its legal complications
also found someone selling us bank account at ebay
I am trying to start an online business ,but there is lack of detailed information about these kind of things,I need an EIN number ,US bank account and address
I have friends who can writes articles , designs websites we are planning to setup an affiliate site but without EIN it may be waste of time many good affiliate networks needs EIN ,
don't want to earn a lot of money just want to earn a little extra income at least
10 dollar/day for each of us,
we are working hard 12 hrs in some days more than that
yet nothing to save at the end of the month.and no money to waste with trial and error nor have money to start citi bank /hsbc offshore accounts
I think bahamas bank account need minimum $1000 and same is the case of citi bank offshore account if I was wealthy enough for that , I never have to try to setup affiliate site

You definitely won't be able to get your corporate bank account with out the EIN number. You'll need to do your corp or LLC and your EIN and with that you can try to get a corporate bank account. Slogold is correct that you can try the international departments of the big banks. We prefer to deal directly with the U.S. branch however.

Also, simply having a branch of a bank in your country doesn't mean they "talk" to the main locations. When we lived in Argentina, the Citibank there had nothing to do with our U.S. branch that we banked with. But there were still definitely huge advantages to having our U.S. location.

I think the only way to open a new account in a us bank is to be present in the us. Otherwise , without SSN, I believe you are not able to.

nothing of those things required now. I got the account from dataservices at yahoo dot com . he gave me usa savings account along with perpaid card. I used that account and linked with my paypal which was limited over 180 days and withdrawn cash to that bank account and through atm I have withdrawn cash from india. it works in any country. and you don't need a single document to open an account.

Yep. And the 'Know Your Customer' issue is an obligation for banks all over the world (even in Switzerland)

Except of course in some exotic places providing "offshore" services (banks, incorporation of companies, online casinos...)

A US bank will require you and any authorized signer to come into the local bank branch with ID to open an account. I've banked with Wells Fargo for some 20 years and even have an account manager assigned to my account, but just to open another account with Wells Fargo in a different state, I had to actually visit the branch in the other state. This is because of the Patriot Act.

I don't know if as Mexican there's some preference due the neighborhood or what, but I open those accounts a few years ago, and many people with a some spare money has personal accounts in the USA for savings.
It's common for most business in Mexico to have accounts in the USA as well.
