My site dropped from position 2 to 58. Does this = Sandboxed?

My Wordpress Blog has been stable for the last 2 weeks in on first page on google for phrase/broad/exact match. However recently i was pushed down the serp, to position 58 for phrase match. Does this mean i have been sand boxed (my niche isn't very competitive) or is it just a common indexing situation?

I also posted a new article which is relevent to my niche, however its not relevant to my 3 keywords, could this be a contributer to my decrease in search engine ranking for my main keyword?

Also what would be the best way to get back to the top 10?

Is the site new? because it takes a while for new sites to stabilize their SERP rankings.

then its very early to predict anything, those serp ranking keeps changing, but once you have sufficient backlinks, your ranking will get stable, i means +/-5/10 positions.

Haha there is no real answer to this. Just keep backlinking. You will eventually find out.

Also make sure that most of those backlinks are from related sites. :)

Post comments on related blogs, link exchange with related sites, post in related forums with a signature link, etc.

dont worry .......its not a sandbox problem..........you can get it with the regular link building work.

Chini, I do have the same problem. I used to have good ranking on certain keywords when I launched mywebsite. Couple of weeks later , it dropped. I believe more backlinks should resolve the problem.

Oh, I have a new site that is ranking, like 70th for its own domain name keyword, even though the name is one I invented, and did not exist in the SERPS before! So other sites that linked back to mine, that outrank mine, are (I hope temporarily!) outranking my site, and Google traffic has been very sporadic. I am certainly hoping that will change! At the same time as this is happening, Google is indexing thousands of pages per day on my site!

wow, then it wil be great, doesnt matter how many backlinks u have , but u can stay in SE index surely, just some quality backlinks(not mandetory) and bookmarked backlinks are imp at this stage.

Yes, I don't know if you'd call it the sandbox but it's normal for a new site to drop right down and then gradually (or sometimes quickly) work its way back up. The site I mentioned before has now gone back up the ranking and is gradually increasing traffic. I have added new content, bookmarked, backlinked etc. The usual stuff, no reason for it not to work, unless you are spamming or your content is VERY unoriginal.
