Hello, I am setting up a web design company and have been trying to think of prices that would be reasonable but also competitive. So far the prices I have came up with are as follows: Html template design = $270 Wordpress template design= $300 Joomla template design= $350 These prices have been arrived at covering expenses for the templates to be spliced by an external company, as well as my own charge. Do you think that these prices would be competitive or do you think that I should make them lower/higher and if so for what reason. Thanks in advance, Anhalo.
What currency is that in? I know someone that got a website designed in Taiwan. I remember it's 10,000NTD roughly 300CDN. PHP, CSS, Control Panel.
Many of my entrepreneur friends mark their prices up by 70% or so. I only mark mine up by 50% though because I don't do much outsourcing anymore.
I've had way more success not listing any rates on my site and just giving quotes as clients request them. Also lends a more professional and "in demand" feel to your business. Go by an hourly rate and charge each job on it's own - each client will need something different so charging a flat fee nullifies flexibility.
Is the price is per page or there is no limit of page for the amount of charge? If the price is per page then it too expensive. Last week i hire a designer to code a WP theme for me at $500
Mentos, how is that too expensive then, $200 less than you paid??? Personally I would charge by the hour and do an estimate time, then give that as a quote. The thing about designing is, if someone asks for one page then it could be really complex, and if you're charging the same amount for that and a simple page, then it's not quite right
i am guessing you got multiple pages out of this maybe?? but i would also suggest quotes only. Maybe a minimum because a lot of people like to see some kind of base point.
Thanks everyone for their advice, and maybe I will just quote as I go along but have a base fee. Regards, Anhalo.
Why don't you make the price you ask slightly lower? Add a text that you want to help people get their own business online. Due to many struggling with lost jobs and mortgage repayments you feel like your "excellent" template will get them up and running and will also help curb recession. We must go with the times, you know...
