Hosting blogs (iblog), including my adsense in the ones created, is this against TOS?

I am thinking about having a blog hosting site that people will come on and create blogs like iblogs and I will add my adsense with code after the first post, is this against TOS?

Also, if i wanted to have an option for popular contributing users to use their adsense on the blog and remove my, can I charge a nominal fee to remove my adsense to add theirs and can they sign up for adsense with my site? (i.e. http://www.mybloghostsite/theirname/)

Anyone find these types of sites good for adsense?

Honestly, I think the hope of competing with Blogger, Live Journal, Diary Land and the like is probably hopeless unless you have a huge amount of capital to burn through advertising the service.

I was going for a more niche community with current users. Any idea on the questions. I was definitely not going that route to compete with those guys.

I don't think you are talking about anything that would violate the AdSense TOS.

A very focused niche topic seems like a good idea. Though despite how much we webmasters enjoy talking and writing online most peopel would rather lurk than type.

As long as everyone understands what's going on and you're not trying to trick people into having your ads on their blogs, it should be okay. It's sort of like revenue sharing on this forum, except backwards :D.

The "idea" itself would not be against TOS but consider the following

    1. You can only add Ads to sites you "have control over" - do you really think people would use this service if that was the case? I know I wouldn't.

    2. If you put your ads up and people add content or tricks that breach TOS it would be YOUR account that got the flack. I think it would be crazy to put your own account under that level of risk. You would have to spend every waking hour checking all their pages and comments which after a while would probably be impossible anyway.

    3. To be quite frank, why on earth would anyone in their right mind use a blog service with someone elses ads on it when they can just sign up to blogger etc and add their OWN?

I know these comments seem a little negative about what might "appear" to be a good idea but I hope I am being realistic here.

I'm currently in the process of building a similar blog hosting site. The main site hasn't been completed yet (web guy says 2-3 days) but a few people have already signed up for a blog.

After trialing the 120 x 240 ad unit, I decided it was a bit too obtrusive for my (and the users) liking. I have opted for a 120x90 link unit in the navigation bar - it looks much cleaner than an ad unit and will hopefully perform much better in terms of CTR. I'd post a link to an example of this but I can't due to only recently joining DP.

IMO, the "placing ads on sites you have control over" issue shouldn't be a problem. Most blog providers will be able to access any user's control panel, thus giving them complete control over the site.

    Cheers.

This may well be true but how will you monitor the content? If they post something bad and you get banned you cannot claim that it was "their fault" as you are responsible for any pages displaying your ad's.

I AGREE its quite a good idea but the practicalities could be a nightmare. if you site becoems succesful you could end up having to constantly check hundreds of pages and comments.

Thanks. I was wondering about being to intrusive. I may have a limit on the number of accounts to have registered.

You weren't too harsh WhiteSpider. You made a lot of sense because you don't wanna have to monitor hundreds of pages. I really wanna get this off the ground.

I agree with you completely. For this reason I'm limiting blog registrations to 100 and we'll see how we go from there. I'll also be employing a couple of moderators to keep the site clean.

Apologies for double posting, but since I can now post links here is an example of one of my user's blogs and how I've used adlinks.
