I've tried associated content... but they usually pay below $3,5 even you have a 1000 words article

    are there any better alternatives?

Publish them yourself or sell them to actual clients. Pretty much anything is more lucrative than AC.

I think it's dependent on your writing skills. For routine articles they are paying less amounts. If you are perfect you can publish yourself or sell it.

I totally agree with Jenn. You need to look into finding your own clients and leaving AC out of your workload.

That's ridiculously low. Lower than $3.50 for a 1000 word article. Do some solid research on in demand niches and do PLR instead.

The rates reflect some of the practices that people are doing.

These days there's been a lot of promotion to people to not write their own articles at all, but to outsource them. They then pay just a few dollars per article. Then, they own that article and they will either use software to re-write it 1000 different ways in about 2 minutes flat - and auto-publish them, or they'll even outsource that part of the work. These middlemen are spending their time researching what to write about and what keywords to use. Their aim is to drive traffic to their website. They're using the cheapest/fastest people and tools to achieve a lot of articles in this way.

You need to find the right marketplace for your skills and look at building a proper client base rather than competing with this online style of article writing. Perhaps do a little bit of research about content, who writes content, why content is written and start trying to build a reputation for yourself as a good writer for a niche who want high quality rather than going head to head with volume article generators.
