Starting out with Azoogle: My Journey

    Hello all,

After browsing these forums for a few months I decided to join. Not only that, I have signed up with Azoogle (awaiting approval) and will track my progress in this thread. Any advice or experiences are welcome. I do know that there is a ton of useful info located on these forums and thanks to DP have a great starting "advantage" (and motivation!).

My initial goal is to work up to $200/day gross as quickly as possible. But for a goals sake will allot a time frame of 1 month. Whether this is realistic or not I don't know, but given how much I have learned I want to be as aggressive as possible.

Thanks goes out to Trypp who has been a huge inspiration and teacher whether he knows it or not to not only me but others I am sure.

Good luck to you all and I hope to be posting progress very soon.

    Hey that's awesome Redirection

About how long did you have to wait? Also, what other programs have you joined if you don't mind me asking?

I hope you post back here when you start earning some good cash :)

You going to use Adwords, Yahoo, MSN?

    Cheers

    Hey Baobab,

The Azoogle process took about 2 days, then I finally got the call. I am also with Commission Junction.

I plan to go with just Adwords but will see what happens. Would like to get some solid experience first before branching out.

I will definitely keep you posted.

How about you? You plan to just stick with Azoogle/Adwords?

    Hi Redirection

Yeah, I've just sigend up with Azoogle (still waiting though), Neverblue, Hydra, Advaliant, etc.

I haven't started any campaigns yet because I am trying to decide if I should do direct to merchant or create landing pages. I think landing pages work best but if you're gonna work on say 10 campaigns, would you need to create 10 LPs and if so, all on the same domain, etc.

That's where I'm a bit confused but for now I may just go direct to merchant until I figure this out lol

Any suggestions? What is your basic strategy?

    Cheers

    Hi Baobab,

I wanted to begin right away with direct linking (direct to merchant) and found out that Google no longer permits that (one of those things that if I spent more time on the forums here at DP I could have found out the easy way!). So, I am in the process of building some landing pages. Yahoo or others may allow it but I am not sure. Again some good research here on DP could probably give that answer.

My initial strategy is going to be: advertising campaign with split test (adwords only for starters), landing page (I am only going to focus on one domain at the moment until I get the hang of this), then have relevant articles/content with offers. Once everything is ready I will let you know the stats and anything else I encounter.

    Hi Re

Sounds like a good plan and very similar to my own :)

I'm pretty sure a friend of mine said that you can do direct to merchant if you are using the content network which is a lot cheaper but may take a lot longer to get decent results.

The other aspect is daily spend. I don't have lots to spend at the moment and until I get the hang of things I'll need to watch my spending and conversions like a hawk.

I was thinking of starting out with around $1000-$1500 the first month. How about you? You gonna spend more or less? I only ask because the more you spend the more you should be able to make, theoretically. I'm striving for around 100% ROI or close to it.

I think the way you're going about it, 1 domain, articles, etc. is a good idea. Good luck! I might choose that route as well :)

That is untrue. Google allows direct linking it is just that you must put the actual URL where the user will end up when they click on the ad.

"Direct linking" isn't any different then any other link if you follow Google's rules. No matter what site your sending PPC traffic to, the url in the ad must match the site. That's it.

Putting your site as the display URL is really just "direct linking" to your own site.

Direct linking is kind of lame. Make a real LP, track variables, etc. and compete for real.

Redirection- if you don't want to take out the time to build a landng page- just buy a .99 domain at godaddy.com and forward to the merchants landing page. Call godaddy.com. they will show you how to do this. It saves a lot of time.
