    Hello.

Can anyone point me out to a reliable and reputable web host that has been in the business for a while?

I've been getting fucked over by hosts like crazy; please assist. Security is also a must.

    Thank you.

    LOVE THEM...

    http://www.hostitnow.com

I've been there for about 5 years now and have several sites on various levels of hosting. Even at the budget level, I've never been down for more than 15 minutes. Business & Corporate NEVER goes down. (Confidus)
For as long as I've been with them, I've only had to call a few times, but every time I've called, I got help IMMEDIATELY...these guys even answer their cell phones on vacation and help me. Cpanel, all the bells & whistles....and none of those bs 10 email, 10 sql, etc. limitations.

When sites go down my phone goes ballistic so I know where you're coming from. You can't fix what's out of your hands and if you're not serving your own stuff, you're depending on them. These guys keep me stress free.

If anybody knows of somebody better, I'd like to know as well. Realistically, it's not cool to keep all of your eggs in one basket, but as of yet....I haven't found anybody who comes close. My boyfriend has been trying out a few other hosts....nada...he's always moaning and I'm always up. I've got one straggler site sitting at nomonthlyfees.com but I'm pulling it this weekend. They (nomonthly) use to be really great years ago, but I dunno.....they gradually just petered right out on me. FYI - they NEVER answered the phone. It was the email help center or bust.

I have a referral # that will give me credit if you join up, but I don't even care man. That's how good this hosting is. I know it sounds like I'm selling them hard...heh heh....don't know what to say man....I dig em.

HostGator!? Hell no! I don't want this to ever happen again!

1&1!? Hell no to that too! Nothing but bad reputation I hear about them!!!

Dreamhost!? Been there, done that, but not too into their server settings! Plus they have had downtime recently.

Word of advice is to stay away from overselling web hosts because you get what you pay for.

    Try pair.com or dotable.com

I read that thread, and it doesn't sound like HostGator did anything wrong. You gave your passwords out over insecure channels, and didn't have any backups of your own. That HostGator had their own backups and restored them for a mere $15 was a miracle of good luck. I would have stuck with them after that.

But that's water under the bridge. You want a new host. OK. I use Site 5. Their multi-hosting domain manager allows me to have 1 account for $17, and run all my domains from there. Right now I have about 25 Web domains with them (yes, all included in the $17). The only drawback is that all your sites will go onto the same server, so if one of your sites is down, they are ALL down. Because of that, I actually keep a couple sites at separate hosts.

I just signed up with Site5, love them so far. Dreamhost is equally good to say.

I have dreamhost yearly plan and site5 monthly. I might drop one of them in long run, but for now I am keeping both (dreamhost briefly suspended my site for server load, but site5 is handling it well so far)

Yes. But, hmm... I just checked their chart, and nowadays they only give you 5 domains for that price. When I signed up, it was unlimited, which is why I have 25 sites running on a $17 account. That's too bad. So Site 5 is less cool than it used to be. If I had to start over, I'd probably still use them anyway, as I don't know of another system that gives me so many domains for the price.

For you, EGS, I would actually recommend 1&1. ;)

For anyone else, I wouldn't touch them.

hmmm, I see. I can still host unlimited sites, but those are like added domains (or domain pointers). They have only 1, 2 and 5 truly hosted sites for their basic, advanced and platinum plans now.

I found their services on bit expensive side. I was in need of around 100Gb b/w and its priced at 30$/month.

By the way, I had this hosting roundup last weekend when my site was shutdown by previous host for too much server load (grrrrrr)

unlimited domains and massive bandwidth is all bs.

almost any of these bigs hosts will shut you down if you start approaching anywhere near what they promise you in bandwidth.

they just spew forth big numbers because 99.9% of websites will only get a tiny percentage of that type of traffic.
