I have two questions for people that use Stumbleupon.

    1. Do you think Stumbleupon is a good way to get traffic?
    2. Why is it that I get a incredible amount of traffic one day and then the next day it almost stops?

    1. Yes, it will always give you at least some traffic (albeit incredibly untargeted).
    2. Because that is how the stumbleupon algorithms work.

Stumbleupon is awful. I blocked stumble traffic from my site because it was generating about 1000 "unique" visitors a day. Too bad they only stayed 30 seconds or so... none of them click ads, none of them make me any money. Just a waste of my bandwidth.

Like what the rest have said, you need unique content to keep the visitors on your site. This is the most basic of marketing a site. No point using other social medias as well if you do not have anything unique to share with the community.

I have found stumbleupon visitors to be hoppers and even if you have decent content they will still hop to the next website!

if you use an application as a social bookmarking network marketing system. This application as far as a social bookmarking site works well.

In fact the one of the most targeted social bookmarking websites and in his existence.

    1. Yes its normally a decent amount in a short amount of time but its usually useless.
    2. How your site is promoted on stumbleupon.

The key seems to be to get stumbled upon first. This means not stumbling upon yourself.

Its quite simple really. StumbleUpon is a filter for excellent content and once the content has been spotted (add an add-to link to your pages) then other similar people will find it and also find it really useful.

So many of us get our friends to stumble and are then surprised that we don't get visitors who really want what we have to offer :)

    1. It is free untargeted traffic and good exposure especially if your site is relatively new. Many of my pages have been picked up from Stumble and blogged or posted on other social sites. One page brought me over 10, 000 visitors over a period of 3 weeks just from Stumble and another 2000 visitors from a site that blogged the page. But your ads will not get many clicks from Stumble traffic (CTR .5%)

    2. When a page becomes popular then you'll get a traffic spike, and then it tapers off. The more pages you have on Stumble that became popular, the more ongoing traffic you will get. I get an average of 400 visitors a day when the traffic is not spiking

I actually enjoy using stumble if im just browsing on the internet there is always interesting finds. It just so happens i put my own sites up there too and get a few hits from them. You have to really pick a good section to have the articles in though...well that and have good content in the first place. My fluff articles dont see anything really from it. The comments are good to do as well.

Stumbling your own pages can result in a ban from them. As can stumbling sites that are known to be involved in stumble exchanges...

SU traffic can be OK, but it is fickle... if you get a page stumbled by one person that likes it you'll get several others to look at it... but if the page is not simply SUPER FANTASTIC that is generally where it ends. You need a page with mass appeal for it to maintain decent long term traffic, as without additional thumbs up it'll get buried under all the other pages people actually like.

So if you even "like" one of your own pages, then be sure you actually LIKE it, as if you don't then no one else will either.

With Stumble you want to try and get people to "review" your site frequently. Build up your friends list and send out a invite every couple days to a few friends and ask them to thumbs up and review if they like the site

I have a comedy website that I do mostly for fun. I put the website URL on my profile page on StumbleUpon but I have not "submitted" any pages. Just from my profile link, I'm getting 62 visitors a month which is the number one source of traffic and they are visiting 8 pages and staying 18 mins on average.

It really depends on what type of website you own to warrant using StumbleUpon as a marketing technique. A comedy website is a good match for Stumble-Upon and people will naturally check you out if you Stumble other funny sites and make some crude comments. Plus its fun.

You'll get spikes, the trick is to make your content sticky so visitors will return.

I do use stumble upon.com but for those who don't use it correctly it would seem unworthy. As an Internet marketer promoting coffee, pets products, shiatsu products, and various different types of wholesale goods for those looking to purchase online, if you've downloaded the stumble upon toolbar look for the thumbs-up and thumbs down signs, picture you click the thumbs up so you can add your page to stumble upon.com

Make sure you stumble upon.com toolbar for Firefox whenever you see a webpage you like...... if you have a website with multiple pages make sure you stumble each page meaning on the stumble upon toolbar you will see a thumbs-up and a thumbs down and blue if you like it click
