What is happening with outsourcing of jobs to India and China is nothing more than correcting an imbalance. Until recently, the economy was still dominated by manufacturing and the financial industry, both of which gave the US and and Western europe a competitive first mover advantage. However, the rise of the Internet and other cheap global communication gateways has menat a seismic shift to the East. We are now in an era where industries based on intellectual property rather physical goods is what is dominating the econonomic landscape shifting. The competitive advantage has now hosted to countries like India and China necause they have two distinct advantages: 1) Intellectual 2) Low cost. These are are both crucial advatages which will mena

No matter what the US politicans do to rty and protect the US economy, they won't be able to stop US companies from moving jobs to these countries. Companies want 1 thing above all as part of their mandate to their shareholders - increasing profit. That's why these countries will move there to take advantage of highly quialified engineers but also significantly lower cost.

So, I am afraid America will no longer be a global leader and it is time you accepted this harsh relaity.

So, in future, compaies like Microsft, Cisco, intel, google, etc, won't need to bring workers over from countries like India on temporary visas, instead they will just open up store, so to speak, in those countries, which actually they are already doing.

America is doomed and won't recover for a decade or more from the current economic malaise. And mark my words, America's time as a global leader is coming to an end for good.

I doubt #1 is really a factor at all. American companies move jobs to India that Americans could do not because they can't find Americans to do them, but because they can get people in India to do them way, way, waaaaaay cheaper.

I will mark your words because you are a highly respected individual on the subject with a proven track record on predicting global shifts in power, or well, at least because you have a lot of rep.

Do I think america will continue on cosuming 50% of the worlds gasoline and importing all the production off offshore manfucturing with fiat dollars? No, if that answers your question. Its time to get frugal and smell reality.

Not as long as you people are so obsessed with America. It is boring to see almost every thread is about the US on a supposedly international forum. People like so much to talk about how Asia is this and that, with a revenge seeking "in your face U.S" notion, but afterall they mostly fear the uncertainity and stress it brings by.

Although I live Canada, I like america also. I would not say people are obsessed with america. There obsessed with the idea of Freedom and liberty which can't go wrong with. These are ideals everyone on the planet should be enjoying, sadly its not the case.
