Do people out there believe said crunch is a good thing for the web design industry in terms of the need for more advertising being required by companies?

My traffic is way up by conversion rates on some sites selling more expensive things have dropped... Overall revenue is just kind of flat from my perspective, which isn't too bad since its been growing since I got started building websites.

There's definitely not much good news for anyone considering what happened to the retail numbers over the last month or so.

I wouldn't say it's ever a good thing. I would say it's a time to diversify. I have had growth on the web development side of the business but down on overall sales on some sites I manage for clients.....challenging times I think

Definitely challenging, no matter what industry you are in. I am hoping that when the shock of the "crunch" has subsided people will realise that they will have to really promote their selves in order to compete effectively.
