FREE Search Engine Submissions

What is the URL and do you allow free submissions?

 

Thanks for share!!! A good list of search engine, I will definitely submit my site to all of them but some of them need to pay. Just a few.

 

Eric, which ones did you see that needed payment as I will remove them immediately?

Also, if anyone sees one I missed or one that is broken please report it to me so I can correct as I want this to be the largest and best list on the web!

It is interesting that you say that. What tactic are you referring to? If you think that by submitting to search engines, you are wrong. What it does is allow your site to appear within the index of many smaller engines and thus the possibility of additional traffic.

Many of the smaller engines have very limited crawler ability and thus your site may never get indexed in their engine and since there are approximately 6 billion search done a month outside of the four major engines in the US (Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask) you may never have a chance to appear for any of those. For instance, the ABC search network has done (as of this post) 233 million searchs today along (see here for reference - http://www.abcsearch.com/ - look at the real time stats in the top right corner).

I don't care if you submit or not, it is just a free list for anyone who actually cares. Good luck to you.

 

You have the wrong URL for whatUSeek. The form you link to submits it to their "collection" at a price of $24.99 for guaranteed submission within 8 weeks or $49.99 for guaranteed submission within 2 business days (or a rate of $16.99 for an annual subscription regardless of the submission method).

To get the form for the free (web index) submission, hover over Add URL and click "Web Index".

As everyone is submitting if you find any dead or broken engines please alert me so I can fix/update right away. Also, if anyone finds any engine that I have missed (must be a general search engine, not a directory or a people search engine, etc.) that accepts free submissions please post that here soI can include in the future.

 

my opinion if you submit your site to a free submition site, you will only do bad for your site

No, that is not true as Google, Yahoo and Microsoft (MSN/Live) all accept free submissions (even Ask does if you give them a sitemap). So the top four search engines accept them and then a selection of the second and third tier ones do also. The list covers all of those (originally it was just going to be focused on second and third tier engines, but the top ones were added later as the list became more and more popular).
