That sucks. Prolly won't be too long until other companies follow the behemoth known as Yahoo. I am glad that I don't have any there. Good look though.
guys..my advice to go with www.name.com they provide a good service and cheap. yahoo is scamed me b4.
Yahoo is a screwed up company so what I did last year was I registered .com for 1.99 at yahoo and later transfererd it to my name.com account . I am waiting for google to start the domaining business. That will be real cool.
Only yahoo service I have ever used is geocities when I first started out web design because it was a reliable free host, hell I wasn't paying anything so it's good. No way am I purchasing a domain from them though.
End of the day every 1 has the option of moving the domain name to another registrar. $34 is alot more expensive compared to what other companies offer but in the scheme of running a business is really not that much. People pay more for hosting, lunch, alcohol and other things.
I'm currently spending over $13 a month for them to host one site - which they're doing a poor job of doing! I will certainly not be renewing my domian! A worrying thing is, I don't even remember seeing a $34 renewal when I signed up.
I don't understand why companies are willing to trash their reputation and goodwill like this. Fasthosts - ukreg also renewed a domain for me last year that was not only more than double the price charged by namecheap but a domain I would have let lapse since it's not used. Their name is blacklisted forever as far as I'm concerned. A warning email in plenty of time about a charge to be made to your card is an absolute minimum. As a brand, I love Yahoo as I've used the same email with them for god knows how many years. Almost 10 which is eons in internet time. Would therefore trust them and consider buying from them but read something like this and they lose that trust for nothing. Having said that if the broken-software-blue-screens people at M$ get hold of them they lost it all anyway.
Godaddy is favorite registrar here, at least for me . You could transfer the domain to godaddy easily if you know your domain EPP code
Godaddy works the best for me so I don't even look at other price offers. If it looks too good to be true, it almost always is a bad deal.
Remember the days when yahoo was registering domains for 2,95$ for first year? well this might be the plan yahoo had prepared for those who bought that crap.
