I am surprised that you are having problems with elance they usually have some very good freelancers and firms just make sure that you are checking their profiles. Also if you are being really cheap in your budget then you aren't going to get any reliable designers or firms to bid on your project. This might be your problem. To hire someone who really knows what they are doing with designing a custom CMS system is quiet involved. So if you are quoting your budget as let's say $1000 then nobody with any real experience is going to contact you.

Hi, My budget is about 800-1000 but its a very small site with a few products. The problem with Elance is most of the bids that I have received from coders with experiece have sites in there profile that do not work , or at least 1/2 dont function properly.

I hired someone to later find out he was not a real coder but had 12 ratings 100% feedbacks and great portfolio.

So I wasnt really sure how to go about finding someone good. I apprecaite all your help and anymore advice you can please help me out with.

    thanks

It doesn't matter how small the site is, the management system / shopping cart will require the same amount of work no matter if you're putting 10 or 10,000 products on, hence why you're not getting any decent bids

If it's such a small site why do you need an entirely custom CMS? Theres plenty of open source alternatives out there, then spend your budget on getting a custom theme designed

    Hey :)

You can try Getafreelancer or Scriptlance. I work from there plus few other sites but get most of my work from the above 2!

Please send me a message, I can offer you my services.

    Cheers!

gaf, scriptlance, elance, rac, guru. These are the ones mostly used. If you don't find em here, search for specialized company based solutions
