How to upload themes to wordpress

I am new to wordpress.

Can anyone tell me whats the process of uploading in detail.

And one more thing what about plugins. Are the disabled if not then how to enble...

Lots of ifs and thens involved, but briefly:

i) if you have shell access to your *nix hosted account then upload the zip/tarball/archive of the theme to your WP_home/wp-content/themes/ directory and unzip it there;
ii) if you have only FTP access, extract the archive on your local box and upload the directory thus created to WP_home/wp-content/themes/

Activate WP plug-ins by clicking the "activate" link beside the individual plugin.

First thing i didnt found the activate link in the wordpress dashboard.
can you provide me the url of plugin activation link.

then what host name should use to deal with the ftp

Go to your dashboard and click on "design", then click on "theme". A small picture of the theme should appear along with the name underneath. Just click on it and it should activate.
