I have been on this for weeks now and nowhere nearer to a solution, someone must have the answer, but I have not found them. My problem is this: When I use Camtasia to do a screen capture video the quality is fine on my local pc, but when viewing online, it is not a good enough quality for what I want it for, which is training videos. I have tried numerous file formats, screen resolution, bit rates, frame rates, and God knows what else, but it just is not happening. I have been told one answer is to buy a Mac, and use Screenflow and Camtwist, which I am told is much better for this sort of stuff. Anyone have any other ideas or comments? One way is I could offer the videos for download, but I would rather have them online and people be able to view them online. I checked out a lot of the Camtasia Videos online and they are crappy, but there are good ones as well, so someone does have the answer. I only have Camtasia 3, and I was wondering if I upgraded to 6, will that sort my problem out. They are looking $150 for me to upgrade, but before paying out that money, I would want to know that it was going to do the job I want it to. Otherwise I might as well put that money towards a new Mac Comments Appreciated. Kindest Gordon
I'm using Camtasia 4 just now and it looks okay when i'm upload it.. the main reason the videos not having a good quality after the render process is when the video being compressed and the quality of the video will be reduced because of that compression..you will see..if you use some kind of video editing tools like Adobe After Effect or Premiere you will see the size of the videos will getting bigger because of the effect that you insert in it.. for that reason many people think that,if they compressed it and reduced the file size, you will get the same result.. You can see one of my video tutorial that I have made here
well camtasia is great and when I watch the videos (the ones I did not upload to videosites) the quality is great. I would recoment you to host them on your own webspace or use a filehoster and ask teh viewers to download them this will allow you to keep a good quality
Hello Reezluv, and thanks so much for your comments. I will have a look at Adobe After Effect and Premiere. I know I was told that one is better putting effects in afterwards and it will help make it better. I was also take a look at your tutorial and get back to you. Thanks again for your help, and your prompt reply. Kindest Gordon
Hi Kerosene, and thanks so much for your comments also. I will have a look at Camstudio I thought that as it was free, that Camtasia would be a better option. It will be a good un if I find Camstudio is better for what I am looking to do Thanks again Kindest Gordon
Would you recommend a filehoster? I suppose I could host them on my own web space as you say, and then allow people to download them, that way the quality is going to be retained, maybe that is what i will end up doing. At the moment, I am really just considering the options that are available to me. Thanks for your comments Kindest Gordon
well I hosted my tutorials on uploaded.to bc they pay you for each download and you can make a litte money with it and they allow file sizes of 250mb and the basic account is free
I had a look at the file, and what I am talking about is that it is hard to read the small file print. This would be ideal when viewed on a local pc, but even on that video you uploaded, one cannot really read the print well. My own personal feeling is that the detail is not good enough for training purposes, please do not take me the wrong way, I am not being crtical, it is just I feel for the purposes of training, the quality ids not good enough. While you are pulling down the menus etc. one cannot read the print on what it is you are pulling down, video I think still has a long way to go online to be honest, but I am sure there are settings and effects that can be added to make this better. You have over 14,000 views and that has got to be good from an advertising perspective, just to me it seems like for better quality in what you can actually see that it does fall short for training purposes. I do appreciate your comments though, so please do not take me the wrong way. Kindest Regards, Gordon
nevermind gordonmartin, That video was a testing video that I have made to try video marketing method. So I uploaded that videos and just wanna see the respond on it. To solve that problem that maybe we can try something that called zooming and panning?I guess that really helpful for Camtasia users..search for video tutorial which you can type such "zooming and panning with camtasia" or something else related with that.. I have seen many video tutorials and the zooming and panning features was really helpful to make such tutorial. Thanks again for your critics..I take that as a compliment..I'm not the video makers expert, but still learning just like others..I'm sharing some knowledge that I've learned before.. this is my search result on Youtube on zooming and panning keywords Zoom-n-Pan feature in Camtasia Camtasia Studio 5: How To Zoom In and Out and this is another good tutorials: Camtasia Studio 5 Tutorial: Add Zoom-n-Pan Effects Camtasia Studio 4 Tutorial: Zoom-n-Pan in Videos
Thanks Reezluv It is a very helpful place here at the TDC forums in general, that is what I have often found Kindest Gordon
I will check that out as well. Everyone has been very helpful on this thread, thanks so much folks for all your help Kindest Gordon
I use Camtasia 3 and it works just fine. However, reducing the size (MBs) of your video may cause this problem. Otherwise, it should work just fine.
This is the point, you can reduce the file and the quality is reduced or it can be a bigger file and take longer to stream. I am looking into a number of options though, and I have found this thread to be very useful Kindest Gordon
