This is absurd. "The One"... psshhh

We should all elect someone we dislike and no one wants to endorse. That's what I say. It really sucks having a president elect that people like and are actually hopeful will do a good job.

From now on let's make fun of anyone that supports ANY candidate no matter what party that has a high approval rating.

We should have elected Dick Cheney. Bet no one would call him by this "The One" nonsense. Frickin sheep!

The "sheep" or "sheeple" comments always make me laugh, especially when someone like AGS says it. Oxymoron to the T.

If you weren't such and ignorant, bigoted, homophobic, obamaphobic, white-trash racist, PUG, "christian right", "christian terrorist", "fake christian", book-burner, witch-hunter, zionist, brainwashed sheeple, we might have got along. :D

My point being that the rebel against whatever is popular just to be thought of as a "cool nonconformist" mantra is so tired....

It's just as much mindless thinking as the sheep who get behind a candidate or idea just because it's popular. How's that for irony :D

(and yes I am fully aware that all the "The One" comments are meant to poke fun. Only there are some less intelligent folks who don't get that and take it as a battle cry. Or in other words.. they take it seriously.)

Yeah you're right. But the real heart breaker here is that the Republicans don't even have a representative they LIKE much less aren't embarrassed by. It must be really tough to sit on the outside and watch the choo choo of change go by :(

Sure it can fail miserably, but don't you think it is more likely that this presidency will fix a LOT of the problems caused by the last president. Or at the very least, put this country back on the right track and restore our reputation with the world? Ironically the more Republicans keep jumping up and down screaming about the Democratic majority the more they make everyone aware that when things get better they will have had NOTHING to do with it. :)

Of course there is always Bobby Jindal..... but who's the REAL Bobby Jindal? :D

Are you trying to change this thread to be about emos?

You totally lost me with your reply.

(and the part in parenthesis is just as far off as well. Battle cry? What world do you live in?)
The media portrays O'bama as perfect, all knowing, the fixer, the answer, in other words - the O'ne. People like you reflect that as well. Those of us watching this are laughing at the sold-out way of worshipping O'bama as almost funny.....

You will probably think it is political, which it isn't. I didn't vote for him, but I am not bothered he won. I hope some things he plans on doing doesn't happen. I hope he doesn't think harvesting babies for stem cells is a good idea and reverses things which would allow for it. But my view of his followers has to do with his followers, not him.

That explains it! I finally put George on ignore because I thought something was wrong with my browser. All his posts kept coming up with just "bahhhh, bah, bahhhh, bahhhh" on them.

"You must spread some reputation before giving reputation to firegirl again".

Damn. LOL. You and Debunked pretty well covered my answer. As debunked said... the worship of this guy is downright funny.

Do I HOPE he turns out to be ok? Sure. Heck, come January he's the President of my country... I'd *rather* he turned out better than I expect. But do I turn into a warm puddle of goo every time he shows up on TV like his faithful? Naah. He's a politician (and not an especially forthcoming one at that). That's a lotta faith in a pretty weak vessel. Just funny to hear someone buy every line and say they dont even care if he lies and then call someone *else* a sheep. LOL... buy a mirror, kid.

    Thanks Rob!

Don't get me wrong, I fully hope that Obama does some good for this country as well. I fully admit that Republicans have made some mistakes in the past 8 years that have helped screw up this country. I'm not a Republican or a Democrat, but I lean more to the right, so I tend to get lumped in with the Republicans. That being said, that doesn't mean I think they can do no wrong.

I'm just sick and tired of how partisan some people are. Seems like the "Democrats can do NO wrong" thought is very heavy this year, and adding Obama is "The One" to it just sickens me. He's not even in office yet!

And I personally think that if we put all our hopes and dreams into one man, we are going to be sorely disappointed. That's what some people on this forum don't get. I am not against Obama or the fact that Demorcrats hold the majority of the power now, it's the fact that people expect Obama to be able to solve everything when the President can't solve the stupidity of the American people. WE are part of the problem here. Our "gimme, gimme, gimme, I'm entitled to everything" attitude cannot be fixed by our government. And, I admit, I find more of this attitude in the people that voted for Obama. He's not going to be able to give the American people an attitude adjustment, we are going to have to do that ourselves....so putting him on a pedestal is just retarded in my opinion....

Obama has a great opportunity here. The country's economy is pretty grim. Bush already started towards improving things and I forsee that Obama will continue on what Bush has started. I think the economy will improve, and Obama will get reelected if he stays moderate and doesn't focus on the social changes he would like to make according to his track record. If he stays moderate and keeps taxes low then we'll see him another 4 years.

How confident am I that he will do this? Not very.

Please point this kid to a topic where I defended Obama and it turned out I was incorrect. :D

Your dismissive comedy would make sense if only I didn't have a valid point. Unfortunately for you I do :(

Unless you're trying to say that you can't possibly be a sheep because I'M the sheep? Profound logic there.

I think he promised a lot of things that he will not be able to accomplish. We'll see, I could be wrong. Even most of the media has pointed out that he has so many things on his plate he probably won't be able do everything he has set out to do. Here is just a few things he's promised... fixing the healthcare problems, fixing social security, getting us out of Iraq, sending more troops to Afghanistan, setting up a system to get us off of foreign oil within 10 years, fixing our economy situations (bad mortgages, unemployment, and the stock market), and among other things he intends on doing without raising any of our taxes (unless you make more than $250,000)... but these are all things he's touched on since Nov 4.

I am trying to find a member here who posted somthing against O'bama just to be against him. Is there one or is this just your way of trying to take the focus on the topic?

George...there's an old proverb, something to the effect of "If three people call you an ass, get a bridle". Personally I think three is a little too low to set the bar or most of us here (myself included) would be running around wearing equestrian tack.

My point is until you wandered into the thread and started your now traditional condescending patter... the comments about Obama were pretty much limited to thoughtful hopes that he turns out better than we expect. I know mine were, and there wasnt anyone doing what you are talking about. If you have a problem with what someone posted in another thread, address it there.

    Meanwhile...
    • Wandering in to simply call people names and stir shit adds nothing of value.
    • Everyone that disagrees with you is NOT automatically a moron,
    • and calling others "sheep" while marching in unison with all the starry-eyed guys that think President-elect Obama is a borderline deity is silly aside from just being annoying.
We congratulate the fact that the guy you like won his race. Now, unless you have anything to add to what was until you arrived a fairly thoughtful discussion, put a muzzle on the personal attacks and stay on topic. You are pushing the limits bigtime on this page alone.

Go back and read the thread. He didn't start the "unthoughtful" posts. It started with people mocking Obama supporters as basically belonging to a cult. If someone was trying to denigrate or disparage the reasons for you supporting republicans, I'm sure you'd get defensive as well.

    Welp, a few things...

I could respect your attempt to appear to be taking the high road except, well...

Problem there is that you are mistaken. My first post in this thread was here.

So to help you put your fact hat on straight, debunked coined the phrase Obamanism here. You immediately followed up by invoking the timeless classic "The One". Next Firegirl found it quite humorous and went on her own little stand up comedy show complete with Obama walking on water and fighting off agents in the matrix :D

It was funny, I giggled..... but then I pointed out a little hypocrisy in the "I'm a nonconformist" mantra and I'm the bad guy. Hell I even started off joking about it too.

Did you even read the first page of this thread before you accused me of causing all the problems while everyone else posted "thoughtful hopes"?

Of course I don't think anyone that disagrees with me is a moron. You being one of them. But then you go and make a post like this?

Sorry, I'll be sure to watch who I call sheeple from now on. ;)
