How I increased my blog subscribers to over 1800 in less than 10 months

Damn I didn't think I would be writing this post so soon. I started my blog about 10 months ago in which I wrote multiple articles. I share my experiences and learned a lot from my readers as well.

I see that so many bloggers write about their stories here on digitalpoint. People talking about how well they are doing with Stumble and what not. And I know that people who want to start blogging visit DP's this section.

Therefore I thought I should share my latest post here. I wrote this over 1100 word post that shares how I increased my post over 1800 in less than 10 months.

Because it is such a long post, I won't be posting the whole thing, but here is a summary.

One of the many goals that bloggers have is high subscriber count. Now I am not famous like Darren Rowse who can start a new blog out of the blue, and have 1300 subscribers in less than a week. So it took me more time to get to the number where I am, but I know that a lot of people have a hard time getting to this point in this short amount of time. So I thought I should share some of my techniques that I used over the past that has contributed to the number of subscribers that I have.

    Set a Goal

Set yearly goals, or quarterly goals. Don’t make your goals seem unrealistic. Make it seem some what realistic. So My goal was by the end of the year of 2008, I want to have 2000+ subscribers. Which I think is possible. You need a goal in order to be motivated and inspired. And I believe motivation plays a big role in your writing style.

    Write Quality Content

Have you noticed, everyone say that. Even people who just start their blog and have no idea what is going on in the industry. Self-proclaimed experts tell you to write quality content. But what the heck is quality content. In my eyes, Quality content is resourceful content. Content that helps your user. Content that attract your users. So every time you write a post think twice before you write it. Think how your users will find this article helpful. That is all I am going to say about quality content.

    Care About Users

Caring about your users always help you get more subscribers. I get crazy amount of emails. I know that I might not be able to reply to all, but I try to reply to as many as I can. I try to help the users if they have questions on one of the tutorials that I posted. So how did I show that I care about my users? [Read the whole post]

I hope that you guys didn't think this was spammy because I would really like to hear your opinion on this subject. Because I know there are a lot of people in this section who are successful bloggers. And see if they agree with me.

If I were you, I would switch to wordpress asap. Your blog have good content, but I am not a big fan of your design. Second if you follow one of the tips you will see the results turn out much better. The tip is putting the email subscription option at the end of each post page before comment area.

I've been blogging since August of this year and I have two blogs - an opinion blog, which was my first one, and a weight loss blog, which is my main blog (I've paid for it's own domain and everything). I belong to several forums, I use social media (which is very slow going), and I comment on others blogs, but I'm still having a hard time getting out there. Granted, this is just a hobby - I spend time while I'm at work browsing forums and Stumbling sites when I have a few minutes, but I do most of my posting at night. I have submitted to all of the search engines, a ton of directories, and I have AdSense on both (even AdWords on my weight loss blog), yet I have a Google page rank of 1 on my opinion blog and a rank of 0 on the weight loss blog. Any tips?

Yes. First thing you need to do is add a signature link as soon as you can in your forum profiles. For the first couple months try to stay in the top commentator box of top blogs. I cannot give you any more advice unless I see your articles and see how you write.

You need to start a link building campaign and get backlinks from related sites. Don't try to game the search engines. Build links for traffic.

Very wise advice. If you try to trick SE's you will get penalized. So follow bogart's advice.

Congrats then! I checked your blog and some of your posts, and I think you have provided quality contents. However, we must also be careful since they can unsubscribe anytime.

They can unsubscribe at any time ofcourse no doubt. But how likely it is that all of them will unsubscribe at once. I would have to do be doing something wrong for that.

Sounds very easy in theory, but I'm at ~ 100 after a similar amount of time and doing most of what you said.
