Hey guys I ve wrote a new article about web design and why you should consider the overall look of your blog when you first start blogging. Its an extensive article with over 1,500 words so please take a look. Have you picked the right web design?
Nice work here, WillyBoy Not quite sure if you want to write of IE folks yet though. Otherwise, looks good in all other browsers & variations on browsers. IMHO, your left nav get's confusing vis a vis the GUI once one clicks on a link because I think you are more focused on advertising than UI, above the fold.
Thanks for your comments shaun. I am not writing IE folk off I have to use IE at University when going on my site. I am not sure what you mean by the left navigation being confusing, if you could please explain this that would be great. Thanks.
It have sure that you have done a good work....and giving information by your nice article thanks for sharing.
Yeah, I wasn't too clear there, was I? First I meant IE 6 (missed typing the version): It's rather messed up in that version. As for the left navigation, depending on view port and screen res., the left nav can end up below the fold . . . . but now that I'm looking at it again, I see that the header navigation is the same as the left navigation, so no big deal there.
Thanks Sean for that, I will have a word with the designer and ask him why its messed up in IE6. Also thanks again the words of advice.
Yeah; just gotta luv IE6, man. Can't wait until it finally phases out (IE8 is in beta, so hopefully not a really long wait on this; however, folks using IE browsers -- which came default with their computer -- don't seem to upgrade like, say, FireFox folks do . . . so it may be quite a while before we designers could start to consider writing off IE6). Meanwhile, another PITA with IE browsers is that they are actually part of Windows Explorer, so they are integrated right into the OS and it's not reasonable to try to get more than one version of IE running on a machine. I have the luxury of a few machines, so I just run IE6 on one, IE7 on another, and will install IE8 on yet another once it starts shipping with computers and is beyond beta. I haven't had a moment to look at your CSS, but I'll wager that the issue is with floating divs that have margins and IE6 tends to throw in a mysterious "margin" like space of 3px in situations like that. I tend to have to write IE6-specific rules if my design has to be really tight. Now, after all of that, I should probably go read the CONTENTS of your article, LOL!
good article, and yes it matters what your site looks like of course, branding. branding and branding is key, next to top ranking hehe
Yes your blog design is worth spending a lot of time on. It makes all the difference in people exploring it and reading the content or not. Good topic.
Thanks guys for your comments and I hope you enjoyed the article and again Sean thanks I ll have a word with the designer
