What do you guys recommend for html editors? Preferably wysiwyg Doesn't have to be free, just do the job. I had problems with most I've tried before. The biggest problem being trying to edit a premade site with something simple like adding my own form, only to find when I view the result, the page distorts or worse. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks.
Dreamweaver, although I strongly recommend learning HTML because it provides the most flexibility in your web pages. Learning it isn't that hard either. You should get it down in 2 weeks or less if you're focused.
Try Siteswish, we're launching today. It's a wysiwyg tool. We don't support building forms via wysiwyg yet, but you can embed your own html code into any page you create. The site has an online demo, example pages, and a slide presentation showing Siteswish in action. Check it out. __________________ Ben Lambert Founder, Siteswish - The website design tool
I learned HTML and CSS with notepad 1st to better understand how to use it then when I started using programs I tried both Adobe Dreamweaver and Microsoft Expression Web 2, in my opinion Dreamweaver is better in ways and I use it more often, but Expression Web 2 is alright, the only thing I don't like about it is when you go to the 'Site' tab and create a new file you have less options of what kind of pages you can make, Dreamweaver has alot more options and the layout is easier on the eyes and brain. So I suggest Dreamweaver 1st and check out Expression Web 2 later. P.S. If you learn XHTML and CSS 1st learning to use the programs will be faster because you know what tags you are looking for and how to use them.
dreamweaver or xsitepro if you can afford it. Or kompozer.net is the best free wysiwyg html editor i could find.
Thanks for all the tips guys. I do know a little html but it takes me a lot longer than using a wysiwyg editor. I just downloaded komposer and it looks pretty good. Thanks again all. Les.
I have a copy of XSitePro 2 if anyone wants to buy it from me? I bought it 2 months ago, and no longer use it. New is $197, so PM me your offer if you're interested in transferring the license. Thank you.
I am checking that out now, do I install it like a wrodpress or something? I don't see and index page so how does it load?
Kompozer is a bug fix fork of NVU. Both are based on the old Mozilla Composer part of the Mozilla suite, now known as Seamonkey. NVU is actually dead, but since it was an open source project the code lives on in Kompozer. There is a support forum called something like "what you see is free" that you can google if you are interested. I don't write much HTML anymore since wordpress works well for me, but I still use Kompozer occasionally.
