I'm just wondering what people think are the best directories these days, is it still worth submitting to Yahoo for example?

I'm looking at max traffic and PR for my money.

Its worth submitting to yahoo if you can afford it!
I don't think any directories send you much in the way of traffic. Its just for your backlinks.

Some cheaper paid directories would be better. I'd go with a number of paid directories as apposed to just one - spread you wings ;)

    and flyyyyyyyyyy! :D

Yahoo is pricy all right, though it used to be worth it.
I'm just wondering what word on the street is these days - is it still worth it?

As for other directories, I'd be in favour of that also - any suggestions?

The Value of Yahoo can only really be evaluated individually depending largely on your marketing budget.

Larger companies with a budget generally don't feel $299 is too much for an authority listing with Yahoo. They will submit there and to thousands of other directories also.

Those with smaller budgets may look elsewhere before they look to Yahoo submissions.

Dont request a list of best directories or something like that because your going to get a biased list, plenty are going to recommend their friends and in return their friend will do the same.

You should be putting in this time to research a directory before using it, if your looking at paying then even more so.

Instead of using yahoo id spread it over a handful of directories.

Or even half on directories and half on some other method, to be more realistic, that way you may see if one method works better over another.

I see a trend of people asking for recommendations but yet the recomendations are not used, or like people saying they have 1k to spend, for a week people make all these suggestions, the thread op disappears, returns a month later asking a similar question :) just me noticing that?

Not directed at you WestOfIrelandEvents ;) just a repeating pattern i see.

Dont waste your money on yahoo for 1 link. just try to submit to around 100 of them a month.

    Hello...

I would target "niche" directories that offer deep links ;)

Here's a list of directories that give the most for your money. The value rating is based on PR and Alexa. Most general directories will give you a PR boost, but the niche directories will be the ones sending you the best traffic.
