Ways to generate free traffic to your site

    Hi there,

I know of a few ways to get some free to low cost traffic to your site. Personally I like traffic exchanges, and that's why I own one.

I am trying to bring knowledge of these little programs to other marketers, and to learn more about other low cost methods of advertising.

Can anyone else list free / low cost methods for advertising websites/promtions?

    Thanks in advance!

    Robin

I have seen some Classified / FFA blasters, before, and I wanted to know if there are any "good" ones.

The traffic from traffic exchanges is useless, and your attempt to promote your site is not only blatant but not effective. I would suggest you read up on social media, article marketing, blog marketing, and organic search results.

I wouldn't say that the traffic is useless. It has worked for me in the past, and I have no complaints about my results there.

As for my promotion of my site, I was only listing it in case people were wondering what it was. Notice that the posts following don't have the information in it?

Thank you for the information about the marketing. Do you have any preferred social media sites, or articles? I have been working on my SEO, and now am looking to expand my efforts.

LoL .... we're not in the late 90s any more, those blaster wont work - heard of a captcha ?
Traffic exchanges, auto surfs, junk traffic - again wont work and they break so many rules that it's not funny.

Sounds like you're just starting out .... I am always lost when people spend 95% of their time on other peoples sites (trying to promote their own) and 5% on their own sites .... it should be 95% on your own site and 5% on other sites promoting .... the changes in traffic would dramatically increase.

I am interested to know why you all think that Traffic Exchanges (manual not auto surfs) are junk traffic? I have always gotten decent results from my advertising efforts there. Just want to hear all your experiences.

Because what ad' network allows you to submit your sites to these ? there's a reason for that - it's incentive traffic .... you visit mine and I visit yours junk .... they have no interest in your site at all .... they only visit because they have to - to earn credits .... why waste your time ? your bandwidth and web site resources ...

I know that you will be biased because you own one, but seriously they are out dated and .... we are in web2.0 land and even that's getting out dated ....

Why waste hours surfing sites - when a simple 2 minute Digg can get you as many visitors - that are real ?

I agree with thsadmin. Hey made some very valuable points. Also I prefer social bookmarking for some quick traffic but the real problem is that traffic converts very less.

I wouldn't say that I am biased. Actually I was only talking about my past results. But that's why I am here. I am interested in increasing my results.

I am very happy to try new things, and to experiment with alternative ways of getting traffic. That's why I am asking. I want to find bigger and better things to do to increase my exposure. Owner or not, I want to increase my results.

Social networking sites get free traffic although you do have to understand how to get that traffic without violating the rules of the sites (no one likes to be banned). Videos are big now with getting traffic, and there are probably 50 leading video sites where you can post videos.

noone has mentioned building unique niche auto blogs so thought I would add it in to the mix. although the key to this is unique content! works a treat although you need them to bed in for a couple of months before you start seeing the results. if you want more info p.m me.
