I hate to post things like this (and in fact this is the first time I have that I recall), but I feel that I need to warn others so that they do not fall victim to the same. This is regarding the infojungle.co.uk directory. Over the past year, on three separate instances, I have submitted a total of 31 listings to this directory ($10 each). Out of 31 submissions, only three of them were listed (two subpages and one main page). These three were the first three submitted. Since those were listed with no problem, I foolishly did not follow-up on later submissions to ensure they were placed; I assumed they would be since they were just as acceptable as the ones previously approved (I have since gotten a lot better about checking up on directory submissions...in fact, I have a system in place for that now, but I did not for those). Anyway, I went and made 7 new submissions about a week ago. After making those submissions, I started looking around and noticed all the other missing submissions! I immediately emailed the address on record with PayPal. Until today, still no reply. I even contacted DP member Lovely because after a bit of searching the DP forums I thought this member might have been the owner at first, but received reply that was not the case. If it were a month or so of problems, I could consider the owner might be sick, out of town, or such, but after 11 months, it seems the paid submissions could have been listed. I filed a dispute with PayPal with those latest ones, but it had been too long since the others. So, it seems I am out $210 (assuming PayPal credits back the 7 I disputed; otherwise $280). Don't let it happen to you!
Thanks for the lowdown. I will think of this in future if I do decide to go for paid submissions. I am only submitting to free ones at present. Thx. Col
Yeah, the Internet can be a tough tough place to do business. It's too bad that people will bring anything down to any old level of lowness if it will let them make a buck. I'm not talking about that directory per se, but just the practices that I've seen or run into in my own travels.
This is why we always suggest people, dont make directorties for Fun or Quick money. Make it only if you can handle them, have good editors , can do perfect SEO on them and Link buildings with promotions. Always make sure you never mess up with the paid listings, thought FREE links should also be given the equal value. Thanks Mystikmedia for the suggestion and awareness.
Thanks MystikMedia for the note. Directories should be professional enough, internet is open in nature, we should be meticulous while submitting our sites. Thanks for the share!
Thanks mystikmedia for bringing attention to this, it keeps us on our toes and im sorry to hear of your loss.
Fer goodness sakes, how difficult can it be to add a premium listing? I'm astonished that anyone would stuff up their site like that? Hmmm. I see the domain infojungle.com (supposedly the parent of infojungle.co.uk) is parked for sale.
Good call I searched for that dir in my lists but didnt have it. If anyone else owns a directory list I suggest you look though your lists and remove this directory if you have it. No one likes bad business.
