obviously all domains are going to appreciate as each year more and more are registered. it depends on if it's pronouncable or not and if the letters could be used by a company.

They'll only increase in value depending on the name. You don't have any worry holding on any LLL.COM domain.

Can you explain the logic a little bit, here, please? Why is the fact that each year more and more are registered necessarily a reason for them all to appreciate in value? It seems far from "obvious" to me.

LOL same here. Right now the domain business isn't doing so well. 3 char .nets are down the tube, 4L .com's were doing better 6 months ago and even 3 L domains are getting hit. Who knows, right now it isn't very pretty. Maybe next year it will get better.

I think he means in general, obv no one was expecting the credit crunch so prices fell, but normally prices for domains such as short and pronouncable domains tend to increase in value yearly.

I understand this, but isn't this in fact really a function of their scarcity value, kind of exactly the opposite of the explanation above?

market for meaningless domains based on the fact they were matching a pattern is popping. prices are becoming more reasonable, expect to see further decline across the board. long-term it'll probably reach the same levels once we start to come out of a recession and market comes out of a slump.... not a short term bet imo.

it's common knowledge that short domains are appreciating at ridiculous rates. no idea what you're going on about. obviously their will be a temporary dip in a poor economy, but overall i can't think of many domains that won't appreciate well over time unless they're specific to a niche that is dying.
