Help on limited paypal with a fake name

    Hey guys

I have an old paypal acct from back in 2005 and have $1500 stuck in the account because I used a fake name. I was playing an mmorpg at that time and was selling my online character and items, and the first buyer was using paypal which I was fairly new at. He told me I could make a paypal acct to recieve payment instead of him sending a check or money order.

So to keep a long story short, I ended up making a paypal acct in a rush as the buyer was in a bit of a rush. I'm a paranoid type of person at that time when it comes to putting information, credit card info online, so I ended up using a fake name to create the paypal acct. So I made a few sale over a period of time and got a total of $1500.

And when I tried to take the moeny out, of course I had a big problem. So what I tried doing was I tried to call paypal and explain my situation and they said they couldn't do anything about it because a name change was impossible. So was upset about it so I gave up on it.

So today I was browsing the net and I figure I'd see if the paypal acct was still open, and it was, $1500 still there from back in 2005. So I browsed the new too see if it was possible to get the moeny out, and I found a post here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=468354 that showed that it was possible to do it. The post is from sept 2007 so I don't know if it still work.

But I'm still not 100% sure on how to do it, it mentions a VCC and a VMI, and I'm clueless atm. Would appreciate if anyone could help me, I am willing to give you some of the money for your help, as I thought this money was long gone, but it seems their might be some hope.

Here is some info on the account, its status is limited, and this is what is listed when I log on the account:

    ------------------------------------------------------
What can I do while my account access is limited?

place logos into your auction listings or on your website

What can't I do while my account access is limited?

    receive payments
    send or request money
    add funds to your account
electronically transfer funds from your PayPal account
    close your account

    Steps to Remove Limitations
To Do Date Limited Required Response Status Action
Apirl 24, 2005 Add and confirm a bank account Waiting for your response Resolve
April 24, 2005 Fax or upload documentation

April 24, 2005 Confirm Location Waiting for your response Resolve
April 24, 2005 Confirm your social security number Waiting for your response Resolve

    --------------------------------------------------

Please if anyone can help me or better explain the steps to be taken from this link http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=468354 would greatly appreciate it.

    I have msn messenger/email which is nightwishddr@hotmail.com

Thanks for reading my LONG post,

Considering you have to confirm location, social security number, and upload ID - I would say you are pretty much SOL.

    Hey stmiki,

    Look at this post http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=468354

it was the same situation as mines. The thing is, it says itt lets you withdrawl money from your acct even if its limited if you read my first post. All I have to do is add a bank acct I'm guessing? And this post http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=468354 says something about VMI accounts or www.VirtualMoneyInc.Com and also talks about VCC which is virtual credit cards?

I'm not sure myself since I'm a bit new, that post was started by the user "Idiot Inside"

I'm wondering if he is still around?

Thanks, still hoping I might be able to do something

I guess you can try a re-loadable Bank/ATM Visa card and withdraw your cash to that and take it from there - I've never done anything like that before but sounds possible

Was searching around the forums and around the net, it seems that VMI doesn't work with paypal anymore? Is this true? Or has it changed recently?

this is rather a hard task to do. I would say you got slim chances and don't try to mess anything right now. Better look for someone who had the same situation and got away with it. anyway good luck!!

In October the head of Virtual Money Inc (VMI) was indicted for laundering money for Columbian drug operations. They may have changed their operations since then:

ah okie, so its not possible anymore to use VMI, is there any other way? If not then its not a problem, I already gave up on it a while back, its just that I was browsing the net randomly today and found this site and read about VMI.

Create a legitimate Paypal account with all the correct details then gradually transfer the money from the other one, then transfer it from there to your bank.

Another thing I just thought of. You could register a business entity and convert your account to a business account, then request a check in the business's name. It's like $50 to form an LLC in my state.

You can add a business name and create the business, then you have access to that. That way you don't even need to run off of the name. What about linking a bank account to your acct and transfering that way? Or you can't do that with limited account? Because I have had a bank account not in my name linked to my paypal, just have to confirm it is yours.

Bank account surname has to match the surname on paypal so his most likely screwed unless he only used fake first name.

As for the other idea, it's best you make it a business account and change it to the business name, like someone stated it's like $50 to register under a business name.

I've changed my name on paypal before also.
