A guy sent me a message today:

" Do you want to buy a vbulletin hacked forum script ? I will sell it for 15 $ "

What do you think about this ? Can somebody who uses this hacked script be in trouble with his hosting service ? :(

I'd send it to the folks at vbulletin, I'm sure they'd love to get a hold of it... pisses me off it does. I've been hacked and it sucks. Have no respect for anyone that does it.

    Search over internet
you ll find lots of nulled versions
but not fully safe. they can trace easily.
    buy licensed version.

one thing that really annoys me is that warez forums use Nulled Vb's and VB pretty much dont do anything to stop it....

Dont get into that crap vB will sue you and take your site down. They are on swing to check the who has valid license and who has not.

The warez site owners most of them have their own server platform established.
So vB cannot do anything however they can take action against domain thus making site down.

They like to make you think that, but you are are safe using Nulled versions of Vbulletin. They will only go as far as contacting you host to request they take down the site. If your host refuses/ignores the requets, they are extremely unlikely to follow up with legal action.

It just wouldn't be cost nor time effective for them to do so when each license only costs a few hundred dollars. It sucks for the legitimate buyers of Vbulletin (like me), but we just have to live with it.

How would it suck for legitimate buyers of VB?

They do threaten with legal force, Im not sure if they actually follow up. When I was like 11 I used a nulled vbulletin site for a private forum with like 5 people and somehow they found it. of course, I didn't know it was illegal, I thought it was some sort of free version (due to the way it was given to me) but I took the site down as soon as they asked me too.

vb uses a company called Pirate Reports (http://www.piratereports.com). Howard is the owner and he is a hound for tracking people down. He gets paid for spotting these sites and minimising the number of nulled vbulletin sites in existance...I have had dealings with him personally...watch out for him !

From what we have seen, when a cracker-jack "nulls" a system, they don't clean up everything. Thus, call homes still run and what not. The other issue with nulled versions, aside from being illegal, is that many safeguards have been removed. In many cases, back-doors are added by the cracker-jack hacker. Security essentially becomes non-existent.

The bottom line, get it licensed!
