Is Partnering Websites a Good Idea?

I have a website that is competition with mine, and it just offered to partner up so that we can match up against the larger competition sites.

Do you think this is a good idea?

depends, you should probably discuss why you think partnering up will produce something that can comepte with the bigger sites.

See if you can work together and see if you have the same ideas and aims.

Hmmm I had a few offers before to. I just don't want to put all my work up for chance with people I don't really trust. I also think if you think your in a position that you don't see much more growth then maybe yes

After looking at your site, I think you have come a long way but I still see alot of room for advancement

I'm just stuck at a point where growth is slow but there is a huge active user base.

The other site is growing very quickly, and I'm not sure if it will be risky. As if we don't partner, they could catch up and then that just leaves me with more competition.

I'm doing pretty good on search engines. Usually 1, 2, or 3.
But they are catching up very quickly as they produce content much faster.

My site has better quality though (opinion).

I have about 1000+ pages indexed in Google and another 500+ Inbound links bringing in some hefty traffic.

The other site also has 1000+ indexed pages but less than 100 inbound links.

OK if I were you I would submit your forum to directories and maybe do some squidoo lenses on content you are writing about and use the rss feed from your forum or that your content covers. have you started any groups on social bookmark sites?

I was planning to do this soon.

I've been submitting some to Digg, but some other things have been occupying most of my time.

I think many directories have a section on forums. just make your topics on social bookmark sites usefull, you can probly get an even bigger base plus build good back links.

If i'm in your shoes,i will not go for it unless the term offered by the competitor is attractive such as 70% of the earning for me and the rest for the competitor.

find out the real reason they want to partner with you

it totally depends on the potential partner so really get to know them first ad dont rush into it

    do your du-dilligence

You also have to think if you are getting revenue from your site that will be affected so is it worth it, if there is larger competition find their weaknesses and improve your site, get a USP

Good luck. Have a nice day.:)
