I would like to make a serious effort at affiliate marketing, but am not sure where to start, what companies and/or affiliates to use, etc. Ideally, I would want a experienced and successful person, a website, or even a free or cheap (but credible) e-book to help me get started. Any successful members out there have any advice or help for me? If you are doing pretty well and can give me hands-on help via MSN, e-mail, etc., I am open to paying for the help if affordable. Your help is greatly appreciated...

I appreciate the input guys - I am just trying to figure out the quickest way to get up and running...and do it as efficiently as possible. I don't expect to get rich overnight and definitely don't mind hard work, but I am a firm believer in working smarter, not harder.
What is the difference between ClickBank, Azoogle, Commission Junction, etc.? Any advice on which one(s) to use?
Here's a good, free ebook - http://www.quityourdayjob.com/learning You've got to submit your name/email, but it's worth it...and no, I'm in no way affiliated with them
@Subcitizen - not exactly jumping in head first, but I stuck my toe in the water and signed up with ClickBank. Just trying to figure out the next move... Question: Are most people just using AdWords and using the hoplink as the destination url, or are there more people setting up a blog or website and putting various ads there? Just trying to figure out which way to go...
