How and where would you promote Job Search Sites?

I have been offered an opportunity to promote two job search sites of a client. One is directed at North American clients and other at Indians.
So, how can I go about promoting these sites with a budget of $1000?
Which are the best places to start with to generate lot of traffic from interested job seekers and also to get empoyers to post the jobs?
    Please share your ideas.
    Thanks

Thanks. But adwords is well known optin anyways so is the adbrite or for that matter using any other advertising company.
I am more interested in knowing other options such as
    Blogs
    Spam comments
    Forums posts etc.

Wonder if someone can give me a few hints to start

The best shot is advertise on local university. Put more weight on final year students and you can definitely get massive responses from them. Recruitment agency will ring your number if you have huge database. :)

You can try technology forums (e.g. eclipse) , normally they will have different list for jobs, so you can post in that.

Don't waste you money with adwords yet. I would not worry about the traffic "numbers" so much as the quality. With your $1000. budget, I would hire someone to place phone calls to all the Job Temp services in the phone book, then like zinruss said, students. Most universities even have interns that will work for FREE, 10+ hrs week, for college credits. Have them do the calling and ad posting for you... Just a thought..

Thats a very good tip, professional level advice:D
The problem is that I dont want to hit the recruitment agencies directly till there are lots of resumes on the site which is not yet the case
For the time being I just need to know how to advertise the site to thousands of prospective job seekers so that the word is spread and they submit resumes.
