Thank you for the comment No paypal I'm afraid - can you use moneybookers? Although... I have a few clients from brazil and they were able to pay with google checkout. Cheapest package I can do: 10GB 5 Torrents 5mbit 8GBP/month (which is about $12.50USD at todays exchange rate)
Are you sure? I tried to pay with google checkou but brazil was not listed in country list :/ Well when site comes back i will try again. "UKFileSite will be back soon!"
First of all the positives. Good product, actually get what he says you will Now the Negatives. We all know all businesses have mishaps and things go wrong. Fair one. But the Customer support he mentions in the 1st post is non existant. I mean how times do you have to send emails and support tickets without any reply, Then you get an automated response telling you the problem, and then its not sorted and his site is down. I would just be happy knowing what is happening to the product I'm paying for. If you go with Ukfilesite and your product works then its excellent, if not then good luck sorting your problems out
I'm with ukfilesite too my web ui went down 2 days ago. I can still use FTP & ping the server so that indicates that he has disabled web ui. Sent an email Still waiting for a response. My box expires 28/03/09 looks like I've lost 45 days Maybe there is a genuine reason for this but at least reply to our mails and give us an explanation.
People, don't expect any refund or other compensation. They simply think they don't have to, because there is new management. They do not even continue their service to us, while we paid until the 5th of March. I even emailed them the 3 months renewal correspondence I had with Jon. The following email correpondence with James shows the way they treat customers nowadays. Indeed, changes are taking place, but certainly not for the better.
Rabomil If the payment was made to Jon, then you are pretty much stuck. If it was made to a company, e.g. ukfilesite, and the "new" managament is still using the same company, then you have a leg to stand on. Your contract is with the company, regardless of who the management is, or even the proprietor (if a "sole trader" or partnership). Especially if its a ltd company. Have a look at companieshouse on-list of companies and see if the payee is listed as a ltd company. BTW - LONG time no see, been ohhhh just under 4 years now ;-)
And guys Dont know if its worth chasing but jon is a student at Southampton Uni, as my missus was as she said the Uni take a dim view of people owing money to them or anyone and they may stop people graduating, it just depends on whether your payment was to jon macrae or UkFilesite, If its the latter then its the company that owes you
Ya, I filed a complaint against Jon through paypal. It's really too bad that the two parties involved are taking it out on the consumer and should take it up with each other. The new owners do not want to obligate themselves to the principles of taking over a business. They have taken the first steps to their demise by disregarding their clients and passing the blame to someone else. UKfilesite is a dead duck and the new owners lack the main thing needed in business "Integrity"
Oh nice turn of events here. It seems that there are no new owners and Jon MacRae of UKfilesite has fabricated the whole story to dupe his customers out of monies. Here was a post on their site by a member who did some investigating.
hurrahhh that S.O.B. took my money and done a runner, he is a scam merchant. I joined up with ukFilesite middle of the month, great, everything worked well..for 4 days. I mailed him, no reply I mailed his other addey, no reply I mailed support on the saturday and got this back Thank you for contacting UKFileSite, we will get back to you as soon as possible. If this is a tech support query, please make sure you have included as much detail as you can. You should be sure to include: - username - connection address to your server/web-ui - details of any faults including error messages __________ PLEASE NOTE: Currently there are some severe delays affecting a few clients. UKFileSite sincerely apologises for the delay. Unfortunately, the circumstances pertaining to the delays are out of our control. The datacentre has assured us they will be caught up within the next 3 working days. Kind regards, Jon _____ Update: The datacentre have confirmed that all will be back to normal by close of business wednesday. Please allow UKFileSite 24 hours to catch up with the back-log. So everyone will be sorted by the end of thursday. Kind regards, Jon -- Kind regards, Jon UKFileSite www ukfilesite com Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. 6 days later (today) still nothing, a bogus story on the forums about how Jon is no longer in the picture and now James and Debbie are running things, yet James uses the crowhorse ID which goes directly back to tastywheat Jon, if you visit the 2 URLS shown in the post from exmortis you will soon see the links that prove Jon and James are one and the same.
