how do you store your passwords?

I've always kept my passwords in a text file, that way I know exactly where they all are.

Recently though, I've been seeing a lot of "password storage" software applications popping up. I'm wondering if anyone's tried these, and what they thing...

Is it time to ditch the .txt file?

My most sensitive passwords are only saved (written) in a hardcopy. I take no chances :)

I used to save pw in text . But it is rather inconvenient.
I now use "robots form" which in powerful and excellent to manage pw !

I can't do that; I'd lose the hardcopy and freak out, haha...

you had to pay for that though, right?

Its never good to keep your passwords stored anywhere really - writing them down physically is good but you have teh chance of losing the paper / throwing it out. If you store all your passwords in a text file on your computer there is a chance that someone one-day will break into your system and hit the jackpot with your text file full of passwords. You could use a piece of software, as this would allow you to keep them essentially 'encrypted', but then you would need to remember your encryption password, lol. Its a bad cycle!

I try to memorise all mine, albeit that comes with its own set of problems :\

save your passwords in a password protected file of any type than upload that file to 2-3 places may be mail or on your server so in any worst case you will recover them or you can also keep a written copy of passwords in your locker too.

I remember all my passwords because i make them in such a way.
Technically speaking, the password string will be a function of my name, the site and some extra characters. So, it is always easy if you can follow this.

Otherwise, i just use the "Forgot the password" link to get the password mailed to my mail id....

I think i can remember my main mail id and password as i login to check my mails at least thrice a day.,..

KeePass for Linux...it's free and really secure. I used kWallet but it's not great for actually storing FTP passwords and stuff.
