It saves your computer current status by saving all the content in the computer memory (RAM) to one file on the hard disk, then shutdown. Next time you turn on your computer, it will load the content from that file to memory. So, your computer will be at the status it was before you shutdown. You can continue working from the last point, without having to run the programs again.
I have just written a post on the "Hibernation" feature. More, i have explained how to turn off/on your computer in seconds (~10 seconds in my case @ 2GB of ram). How to boost the shutdown/booting time in windows XP
Ur computer will stay as it is and u can turn off it savely without closing any app. next time when u will login into ur pc u will all the files as they were before. I think it will consume ur RAM more as compare to shutting down pc properly.
its simiple...Hibernation is like a Power-down standby. When you standby, you gota keep ur system on power but in hibernation, u can turn off the power and your system restarts back to the last point.
So after keeping in hibernation , shall we switch off the computer and UPS ? ?? Will it be the same desktop after we restart ??
yeah....if u turn off ur computer n UPS, ur desktop will b the same as it was b4 hibernating... (internet disconnects on hibernating and u gotta reconnect)
For me Hibernate means : I dont have to close the browsers and the other files if i have to leave the pc. Just hibernate it and when I get back I can continue from where I left. This is the best option in the windows to save time. Pc starts in seconds even with an old processor or less ram.
Instad of turn off hibernating is good option. but many does not knoe about this. You can use this option daily.
Is this the same as the sleep button on my keyboard? I have a microsoft keyboard and it has start and sleep buttons on it. really quite helpfull it has a lot of cool buttons. Good marketing trick ...... Hibernate is good option for saving the current status and resuming while logging on to the computer in simple terms. I choose it when im only in need of that. Try using it!
Hibernation mode is used to conserve batteries or power. When you turn computer into this mode all the application in the memory are saved on hard disk and computer shuts down.On switching on it resumes where it left out and this resume operation is quicker than switching on from normal shut down. In a laptop, hibernation mode is sometimes a feature you have to turn off as a default if you leave the computer in battery mode. Hibernation mode saves all of the info that's loaded in your RAM to your hard drive and completely shuts off.
