My site is targeted to the UK and USA, however I have seen a high PR authority site but it is not in English, if we exchanged links would the fact the site isn't in English be a problem with Google?

Anyway, in which language the site is? Will you be exchanging links in
that language only? But your target viewers are from UK & USA.
Apart from Google, if that be, how do they understand the title and
description part?(they can just view the link). I suggest you to please
start directory submission and bookmarking the site in that language
only. Side by side also keep an English version of Title-Description
    to be submitted to directories.

    marlon,

Google isn't interested in directory submissions anymore...I've decided that it has to be in English.

    Hello,

50% of my sites are in French, I got some SEO from english sites as well, doesn't hurt.
I already gave some explanations in this thread.

    Cheers.

if you are getting links from relevant sites than language will not matter but make sure that you are getting links from same theme of sites..

True multilingual "anchor text" linking is very hard to do. If you wanted a link on my site to link to a India site, English spelling would be ok. The character set used would be the same. But if the link was going to a Saudi Arabian site, the spelling, characters, and the character set would not match my site's.

We are working on this now but not having much luck.

I'm calling this Multilingual SEO and I trying to rank in Spanish for the same terms that I rank in English.

I think if site is relevant than language would not be a problem from Google.

As long as it is related to your niche, language would not be a factor :D

You must base on your particular niche and not on the language.
