Anybody here heard of the wearable computer projects? If so, give your opinion on wearable computers. Yes, they are real, and they've been around as long as, if not longer than, the olden-days original PC's. People have been building them for a while now. IMO, these could be used to enhance our own mobility with the technological world. In a few years, they might be extremely common.
I didn't either, until maybe a month ago. I was checking out a few colleges to make note of for the future, and I found a student project called the Human PC... I looked it up on google, sure enough, there were lots of results. It's definitely out there, and some people have actually built and tested working ones. Just google wearcomp, wearable computer, human pc, or something like that.
I've seen articles on them and on TV, although it's one of those things where until they get popular, you'd look sort of dorky!
What does that suppose to mean? Are you suppose to wear a helmet monitor or something or work with a holographic keyboard? Well if this is true, i ought to see it.
Well, it's most definitely real, google it. Heh, not quite. It's something like that, as all wearable computers are different, since there's not one in mass-production or anything. But generally, they're portable computers (or for some, laptops), with attached view-screen as external monitor and some type of gyroscopic wireless device for a mouse. Lol, that's true, but still, the idea of a wearable computer is pretty awesome.
Well what someone did for Halloween was take an old laptop off of eBay and built a frame that was painted to look like a game boy and so he took the laptop and mounted it inside (screen facing out of course) and made a startup program to run the Game Boy Emulator with tetris opened up. He took a joypad apart, and made two big buttons for A + B and then the big directional arrows (Up down left right) all soldered in and it worked! The only problem was the short battery life cause it was old, but it was cool and is as close as I've seen to a wearable computer Plus it was cool cause people were playing tetris on it while waiting in line lol.
