50 visitors a day isn't much, but it's a solid start: enough to bring in some regular sales and start generating revenue to fund your nascent Internet empire! Say you had no list, no pre-existing product to market, no hefty Adwords budget: just a lead on a hot niche and a simple site (review/squeeze page/whatever floats your boat). How would YOU get to 50 targeted visitors a day?
When i took my site over it was getting 18 visits aday, i now get 250+ daily. I made the site more colourful, sumited articles, and added sexy ladies!
that's very simple: 1. include some relevant content on your website. It doesn't matter whether your website is a blog, sales page, mini site or whatever... but there has to be something for your future visitors to see, and the better the quality of your content, the better off you'll be. 2. make the website easy to look at, navigate and understand. You want people to know what your all about. 3. start making relevant post on blogs and forums related to your niche. Include your website link in your signature, and when relevant, in the post body. 4. buy (if you have to), or trade links on relevant and popular websites in your niche, or a closely related niche. 5. use Adwords, but buy ad space from specific sites that your target visitors are already visiting... don't throw your money away on run-of-network ads if your budget is limited... you want relevant visits. 6. SEO is always a great long term goal, but it can take a long time to get results so do the work but limit how much and don't spend too much cash on it. And now to answer the question of why content and design was #1 & #2... simply put, if your website is crap, nobody will return or spread the word, and getting someone to return is usually a lot cheaper that fishing in new visitors all the time.
I would go for SEO and keyword research. I know this may take longer but your traffic will be much more targeted than say stumble upon traffic or digg traffic. You say you have a hot niche, so go find a decent keyword research tool and type in your main keyword. Then pick ten more keywords from your results that has low competition and at least 50 searchs per day. Then write ten keyword rich articles based on the ten keywords you found (one keyword per article), put them on your site. Hopefully you will soon find yourself on the frontpage of google for those keywords depending on how strong the competition is. Of course whilst you are waiting for google to spider and index your new content you could do some social bookmarking it can only help lol. Clare
I got 50 uniques a day starting from my site's third day what did I do? subscribing to social bookmars, onpage optimisation and submission to directories + 1 PR 3 backlink
I achieve this on a brand new blog by just using StumbleUpon. Currently blogging for only 2 months on a brand new blog and managed to get 100 over subscribers and alexa rank below 250k just by using the mention techniques in the thread here. Do try it and let me know what you think. I place my blog link in my signature so do check it if you doubt my words.
Stumbleupon is a waste of bandwidth... sure the traffic looks nice for your stats but those folks don't convert. They're not there to buy your products or services.
I am in the process of collecting tips on promoting websites and blogs. Hope you can get it for a small amount shortly.
Hi apatters, There are a bunch of things I would do, 1. create an email opt in list 2. join forums 3. post on blogs 4. post on myspace 5. post on facebook 6. update on twitter 7. submit to all social bookmarking sites all of this can be done with either just a little or no money at all. Hope that helps, A.
Don't use AdWords! I suggest you to put up more content on your website first. And then submit some of your blogposts to high PR article directories and also social bookmarking sites. Get a press release and distribute it so that you can get high quality backlinks and traffic in the same time.
I completely agree. @ apatters 50 visitors a day is not a difficult task to achieve. It just takes time. Lacking any type of advertising budget, start doing some SEO. Do some keyword research and target some medium/long tailed keywords. Then start building some links. Also comment on other blogs related to your niche. You will get some traffic but nothing near the quantity/quality good organic search listings provide.
I don't see wasting bandwidth as a point. But I do agree that StumbleUpon traffic don't convert well because they are not targeted traffic. But in my opinion, every exposure counts. Especially with the tight competition in affiliate marketing nowadays. If you were to use PPC, it will cost you money. And this cost might not be recoverable even if you manage to convert 1% of your PPC traffic. For SEOs, it will take you a fair amount of time to rise in the SERPs. You might never reach the top of SERPs if you do not have enough time to build backlinks and constantly posting contents. But again, search engines traffic are indeed much targeted compared to SU. Therefore, I will categorize traffic from social bookmarking sites as exposure traffic. If it converts, its good and I have 1 extra person to spread the product. If it don't, it doesn't cost you anything more than 20 mins of your time.
You could get 50 visitors/day from targeting one decent keyword, or from long tail traffic where you target lots of smaller keyword searches. Most probably you want to use both strategies.
I think I would make a few videos and then use a site like tubemogul.com or some other site (there are free and paid sites) and then I would unleash my video mayhem. Video grows exponentially and it only takes the right person or two to help make a video go viral depending on your niche. And if your market is internet marketing related niches, you could always get 50 per day off of forums if you're providing relevant content with a link in your sig file. There are all sorts of ways both free and paid. And of course, if you have something that converts well then there's always adwords or yahoo ads.
SEO is cheap and probably the quickest way. 50 is not hard to obtain. If after 3 months you are still not getting 50 a day you may want to fold and try a different strategy.
