I'm trying to market the project in my sig, it's a review on an eBook on how to save gas. I want to simply submit 'er to a bunch of free directories, as well as any reasonably-priced paid directories any of you may suggest.

    Thanks!

Sorry but I doubt any good directories will accept it. There is no content. Basically a single "sales page" with a couple hidden affiliate links on it.

Believe it or not, it is a legit review of the book, however yes it is an affiliate deal. Why wouldn't directories accept it? I know for a fact that a lot of sites like this are accepted by directories all the time =/

The reason a good directory won't accept it is because its sole purpose is to redirect visitors to another site via an affiliate link. It has a grand total of one page of content generated for the sole purpose of getting someone to go to somewhere else. Take a step back - if you were reviewing that site for inclusion to a good quality directory of resources would you accept it?

Now the difference between what I said "good directories" and what you said "directories" is night and day. There may be some directories out there that will accept your site, but they are spam filled directories with no editorial standards and very little value.

The site is not informative, it's pure aim is commercial. Most directories say "no landing pages" in their submission guidelines.

You can get it accepted in some weekly edited free directories if you use good description and title. But any directory claiming to have good editing would probably not accept it.

It's not a 'useful resource'. Even the 'review' that you talk about is not a real review but it's more of a sales page.

Bigger human edited directories like Yahoo etc have fairly strict guidlines on what they will accept in their listings

Not personal but in general to all, I see many screaming affiliate , aahhh only crap would accept this rady rady.

This in most cases is a common reaction to the little understood word affiliate. And yes it for some reason does carry some stigma with it for some reason.

In it's very basic form and in similarity to a commission sales person, so just like a vacuum cleaner sales person is paid for the number of units he sells, and for that sales person the better he learns his trade the more cleaners he sells, the more money he can make.

An affiliate is exactly the same thing but on line, where they take a product & or service from a third party, promote it and if it sells they get paid, and again the better they get the more they are paid.

Every one who has G ad words or similar such as a ebay store on their directory is an affiliate in the true sense of the word, you promote an ad or product and get paid by a third party for doing so, the ads would be no different to perhaps what this person is trying to promote and would probably land on many similar type pages, but for some reason, it's a but this is different story.

In addition if any one person is looking at the ways of the world, many top 500 companies all run an affiliate program on line, We also now have people commanding mega $ just to teach the art of affiliate sales.

Just maybe there are 2 sides to the coin, and some need to flip it to see the reverse side, look at what they have first and losen up a bit.
