I checked the advertising section but couldn't find anything suits a paid
    directory.
Especially banner advertising. And just for real traffic.
I already have some spots but will be happy to learn more.

    Thanks.

when it comes to paid directories and Google ad words is a good place to do it but you have to search for other applications as far as hosting European director he because paid directories and even free directories are being overseen by many search engine optimizer's and web designers.

Before you start charging dating money or even little money you should start your paid directory offers a free application and run it for about a year and then turn it into a paid directory this could help your database meta-tagging and your structure is a well-known directory optimizer via Internet web application search engine optimization optimizer.

Paid directories can work although they need page rank in order to get people to buy the listing within those directories and categories, nutrition, sports, computers, Internet, etc..........;)

You can add your directory to this list. It's free and you'll get hits to your site if you have decent PR or Alexa traffic. It is one of the most used lists on the web.

Think in terms of where you think your target market may actually see your banner/advertisement. Your targeted demographics being those who understand the quality provided by great directories and are willing to pay a review fee to possibly get listed in one.

If you think about it, it is that reason which makes directorycritic very ineffective for advertising a paid directory.

Thanks everyone. Actually my directory is the paid directory in my sig. It is not new, also I already have ads elsewhere as stated before. I wanted to advertise more and that's why asked the question. I already have ads with directory critic ( but I thing I need to change the place of the ad) and directory rate.

Does google adworks work for directory advertising? Is there anyone who already tried that?

It need not be expensive, in that all campaigns should be showing a profit, otherwise it needs to be scrapped or reviewed for improvement.

Even a block banner on xyz site costing you say $10 a month, week or what ever can be converted to a CPM or CTC as an analysis of that ad, and i am guessing you would have these sums for the banners you now have placed.

Next t need not cost the earth yes you bid on a key word but you put you $ amount to bid on and a $ cap for the day, this once compared to what your doing can be / should be profitable.

I am not wise in the ways of G (yet), but i have been working with a similar system, running and watching what every one does is an eye opener and a good learning curve.

For example if i had a bid directory and my min bid was $1 and i set a campaign at .05c CPC with a cap of $5 i have the potential to get 100 clicks for the day, from those sums if i had a 1 / 20 strike rate i would break even, more and i would be in profit, which is where you need to be in any ad campaign.

yes you have the key word selected but more important are the words you use in the ad (IMO) in that do not make a fuzzy ad like, click here and pretty please look at my directory and i hope you buy, but more so Limited off subscribe today and save 20%, click here to join now and have it land right on the payment page ( my example sucks but you have the idea)

The reason is i do not want to waste fuzzy clicks, as even though you have a cap you may only rattle of 50 ads for the day.

Before you say you need to pay for higher key words yes above was a basic, but this is how it all works in that many people set up to 3 or even more levels in their key words max CPC so the same ad for example you will see a block set at say .15 CPC @ $15 cap, .10 CPC @ $10 cap and .05 CPC @ cap $5

( if they all went of this would = 300 clicks @ $30 or an average CPC of .10 )

This will use the highest ones first and move through the day. If you have watched how it works it fantastic, you can physically see the higher priced ads drooping of during the day (as the daily cap is met) and the new level of CPC start to kick in.

Also worth noting the CPC set is your max, so lets say your running the early day @ .15 max CPC but your ad is shown on a site where the average CPC is .07, then what you would pay is .08 CPC ( average + .01 ) saving the .07 CTC on that hit, which may now if you had a few extend the number of clicks for your $

all in all it needs to balanced and put into perspective, as above even taking a spot banner can and should be converted back to a CPC or CPM.

So rather than spend big $ take a lower CPC and monitor your out / in ( strike rate ), if doing this you can then if needed see very clearly that you could increase your CPC and still run a profit and will help with any future marketing.

Get banners on directory lists, you can try on directory critic and vmoptions. Directory rate doesn't send that much traffic but the other two might still be worth looking at.
