2 Tips to Hitting the frontpage of Digg

First off, let me explain why you most likely will never hit the frontpage not using these methods:
When you digg your own article, you're competing with 100's of other diggs, all with spam-like qualities that will get overlooked. Yours odds of showing up in this heap of upcomings is next-to-none. From my experience, the simplest ways to reach the front page of digg are the following:

    1) Ask an active member, with multiple front-paged stories to submit your article.

By doing this, a vast majority of his or her friends will be recommended to the article, and with them being an active member, they most likely have a lot of active friends, who in turn will turn your digg viral, and you will get lots of diggs.

    2) Submit articles from major news sites such as CNN, or other content driven sites such as YouTube to gain personal popularity
Gaining popularity and gaining more followers on digg is a very important aspect of getting additional diggs. By them following your activies, they'll read what you submit, hence getting you more potential-diggs than just being inactive.

Anyways, there are tons of other methods that will work, but on a long-term scale, using these two methods in sync will increase the overall traffic you see, rather than just frontpage dings. But the goal is front-page, so keep that in mind :)

    Hope you enjoyed.

Indeed it is.. but they're still two very practical approaches to hitting the front page, which for the people that just digg all 10 articles in their blog and expect to hit front page, this is a good starting point.

If from one user network all the diggs come then you are sure not to get to front page. I had one / two of them once get into front page for my site but thats because I never digged it.

I'm not a big fan of traffic from places like Digg and Reddit. Here one second, gone the other, and rarely converts. I've actually had more success having my articles submitted for specific search terms in the title and getting links from other sites that way who find my content just ON digg, not necessarily the front page.

It's very hard to get quality traffic from these sources anyway unless you are talking about macs, obama, etc.

I can say for certain that #2 does, indeed, work in the long run.
