15 SEO Myths 1)Submitting site to search engine is useless as the site is only listed to it till any other site do not list there. 2)META tags don't affect your rankings. The search engines ignore META keyword and description tags for ranking purposes, for an obvious reason: Taking the webmasters' word for what their site should rank well for would be a pretty stupid way for the engines to rank pages. 3)I should focus on getting great rankings rather than making sure my visitors become customers. After all, it's not how many sales I make, it's how many people walk through the door -- or maybe even just how many people just see the door without walking in. 4)Instead of creating good and very useful post i would like to go for short and nice post.As they do not take much time and reader also do not get bored. 5) Also on the above point i will try to focus to get more visitors as it increase link popularity 6)6. It's a good idea to make my keywords invisible, such as by having white letters on a white background. FACT: The engines are not stupid. But stupid tricks like invisible text can get your site penalized by some engines. Focusing on tricks is a waste of time. 7)Search engines can't deal with framed sites, or they penalize framed sites.. 8)Sites that use javascript get penalized. 9)I should try to rank well for a single-word term instead of the 2- to 3-word phrases that searchers actually use and that I actually have a hope of ranking well for. 10)Most of my traffic should come from one or two search phrases, rather than hundreds, most of which haven't even occurred to me. 11)Any time my rankings go up or down, I should assume that it's the result of some change I made. Even better, if my rankings drop I should assume that someone at Google manually looked at my site and penalized it. 12) Any time my rankings change, or even disappear from the results, I should consider that change permanent. 13) All visitors start at the front page of my site. 14)The sites with the highest "PageRank" will always rank higher in the SERPs. 15)I should consider another site's PageRank when deciding whether to link to them or whether to ask for a link.
Somewhere in there, there's some useful information. Unfortunately, it's so badly written that most of it doesn't make sense. What does "as the site is only listed to it till any other site do not list there" mean? Plus you've made a very confusing post by mixing up what you are saying are 'myths' with the things that you're recommending.
Actually PageRank does matter. Higher PageRank sites find their way to the top of search results much easier. http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html says, "Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results." So stop saying PR doesnt matter, because it really does. Do not try to sound like you know what you are talking about just because you read it somewhere on here.
There are some good points in there... and having bad english doesnt make them any less valid... Why criticise someone who is sharing their knowledge? Thanks
Hummm... could someone present a more concise explanation as to whether or not meta tags or useful or not and whether white letters in your blog cause penalization by SE's?
Meta tags use to be one of the main factors in determining content relevance and what not. That was in the early days of search engines. Due to abuse by webmasters (they found it easy to stuff the meta tags with keywords to rank higher), search engines started to focus on other factors rather than the meta tags. Today, it is still very useful and important, but not as important as other things. So in conclusion, it is still important to use meta tags but it is not as important as other factors. Oh and for your second question, I do not know if you will be penalized, but it really does not help to stuff the bottom of your page with keywords that are hidden. Insert your keywords in your content and you will be fine.
I think some of the points are quite good. Though I do not really agree to some of them. One example is 11. Sometimes the rank will change even if you did not do anything to your site. The change can be due to various reasons.
