Let me get a few things straight...

    1) Do I have to run these ads for a month before I start seeing any tangible benefits from them?

    2) The main advanntage of the co-op network is adding backlinks to your site on other pages which will boost your G rankings?

    3) Do people ever click on these ads?

I've been running 5 co-op ads on my site for 2 weeks now and have seen neither any new backlinks or a single referral back to my site. I'm a little confused as to why I'm doing this. Do i need to just be patient to start seeing results? *scratches head* Just curious as to whats going on here. So far I just have 5 ugle boxes on my blog and nothing at all to show for it. Could someone clear this up? danke.

It takes about 30 days for your ads to propogate across the network and start displaying.
The coop is a mechanism developed to use unused advertising space on websites. You will certainly get Backlinks to your site and if managed correctly you can influence some SE rankings because they do look for backlinks although that is NOT the intent of the coop. ;)
If you place the ads in a prominant place and blend them in well with the rest of your site, users will click on the ads.

Give it some time ... you'll see results!:)

Consider some of the other display options, you don't have to have 5 ugly boxes on your blog to participate in the coop.

The intent is to share available advertising space within each others sites and generate traffic to each others sites.

Personally, I'm not afraid of outbound links. I think that at times these links can provide a valuable resource for my visitors. Although, this have to be taken with a grain of salt, I would like to think that my site would have made a big enough impression with a user so that a simple link didn't lose me a visitor. Rather, helped a visitor out. :)

Because your ad would be displayed on other people's site and hopefully they will click your ad on the other site and get traffic to your site
