I certainly would not want to be linked to Pay Per Post blogs, but that could be a problem that is kinda out of ones control, if they went PPP after you got your links. You could ask that the link be deleted but that could be very time consuming to check all the sites that link to your site... Very interesting situation.
who thinks this is over? we can still see all the new SERPs and it looks like its here to stay. did you all go back to the same positions?
I disagree. I think there was a glitch on the weekend which effected traffic. Lots of stuff hit the first page which you wouldn't expect. I don't really care either way. My traffic levels are back to normal which is the main thing.
This update.. effected my new site .. i peaked at 15k visitors & was all over the first page for many words & phrases, then i couldn't work out why but suddenly dropped back to 7 then 8, now back at 9, 10ish.. My site is gaming related so it should be interesting to see if its settled a bit this week, because last weekend really worried me, i could work out why specially after working so hard on it.. site im refering to is in my sig. e you can see the spike in traffic if you view the thread in my sig... really big unexpected dip. Thanks for this article makes a little more sense now
If Linkbuilding can give a Penalty, it would be so ease to pull your competitor down from good ranking positions. Well, my websites also got a big hit recently, I was gaining 10 position a week and moved upto page3. And Google pushed my website to 250+ position overnite for that keyword. Same thing happened in September for another keyword from page 1 to page10, never recovered and now its in page 18. Some stats : 2000+ page indexed // 20,000+ backlinks // SiteLinks 4 // PR0 (Was PR5 in April) // One outgoing link
not a penalty. maybe a slightly altered way they look at and grade links. edit. this is what the shift looks like for us. but theres been no further talk of it being to do with links any more but somethings definitely changed since the weekend.
One of my sites that was hitting over 300 keywords in top 10 positions lost ranking for most keywords a week ago when this started and it regained all positions (+ a few extra ones) today. Looks like things are back to normal... I hope =P
So there you have it, you did nothing, maybe your competition did something - what do you think? I remember a famous Golfer (Jack Nicholas I believe) saying, the harder I work, the luckier I get - its true!
Hmmm...according to webmaster tools i have 50k links from various sites. I just added my link to my forum with 1.7milllion post probably about 400k pages...is this going to be bad for me? I just got my pr 4 backed after i got banned from google last month. Temp ban apparently.
