Sure will do, Thanks for your kind words ! I don't agree with you. Sites as tech-faq have protections such as you can only add your proxy once. If you try to re-add the same proxy which has already been submitted you will get an error: you won't get duplicated listings... I don't see the problem again please don't get me wrong but what's the use of submitting your same proxy url to the same toplist 100x ? When it's listed 1x it won't get accepted/relisted another time.. so you are a bit of overreacting now.
Looks like the dispute which I mentioned ealier ragarding the faux payment from the proxymonster.org paypal, like usual reversed the payment. So, just beware of this person if he made or pay something to you.
Does advertising in Proxy.org bold listing good? Anyone here has bad or good experience? Could I get a good ROI?
Yes it worth it more than other kind of ads such as newsletter coz proxy.org is a the first place people go to search for fresh proxy
I would suggest if this is becoming a fade to put your system on a back log ie proxy 0rg saying there is nothing available for tell some date over 30 days away so they pay now to reserve there spot and in 33 days there ad will show as this will slow down alot of charge backs. Or change who you accept payments through
Is anyone interested in doing some link exchanges? I have around 10 proxies, most of them are PR3 or PR2, and they're not absolutely crammed full of links/buttons like a lot of the proxies you see. I'd also be interested in getting some 3-way links going. If you're interested, PM me your site(s) and we'll see if we can work something out. Also, to those of you doing proxy link exchanges, I'd suggest using linksnitch.com (or some other type of backlink manager) as people tend to remove (or be sneaky and rel="nofollow") links after a week or so, thinking the link partner won't notice. I use a paid version of linksnitch and it's definitely worth it if you manage a large number of sites. Just a tip =)
Hehe, should have let me win that third one That one we were both bidding on I was actually planning to do exactly that, take out the content and merge the lists and then 301 the domain.... but I wasn't prepared to go as high as you... If you 301 the domain all of the backlinks (link juice) will pass through to the domain you 301 to, as well as the traffic.... Traffic will drop off very quickly though because as soon as the search engines see that 301 they will drop it from the SERPS very quickly. So you the only recurring traffic you will get is from the links as they tend to stick around for a lot longer. HTH The key is being prepared to challenge the likes of proxy.org or tech-faq.com and provide a service which is better than what they offer. Traffic wise you need to pull in as much as you can... to give you an example my proxy list site pulled in 36k uniques, 290k page views during October and my pricing structure is as follows: Tier 1: $10.00 Tier 2: $4.95 Tier 3: $1.50 Featured: $7.99 These didn't sell out in October, although we did sell quite a few. But that should give you an idea of what you need to work towards. It also depends on who you know and how you advertise the availability, etc. I think the owner of tech-faq.com is currently banned on the forum so I doubt we will be hearing from him. I personally think it's a good idea from a proxy list owners perspective as well as a proxy owners perspective. I currently get roughly 200 submissions a day, I would estimate 80% of those get deleted, 10% get banned and 10% get approved. It takes me no longer than an hour to manually process them. I couldn't care less if I started to get more submissions auto or otherwise, so long as they meet my guidelines and are decent active workings proxies I am happy because that is what I want to deliver to my visitors.
Currently I am still preparing to release a new version of proxywhereabouts.com. Once it has been kicked off, I plan to only featured paid proxies after 30 days which means all paid subscription will only be online after that period. The question is; what does proxy webmaster think about that? @ronmac, I did not know what is his name in DP. Tried to search but didn't found anything related to proxymonster.org. There is proxymonster.net though.
Why do proxy sites get banned so quick? Is there any way to prevent it? I just created a new proxy site 2 hours ago and tons of people are reporting it blocked. here's the URL: http://kokokay.com it's using whitefyre proxy. how did the systems detect that it was a proxy site?!
probably the IP. You can only the same IP so many times then the filter software will auto-block regardless of what it is.
Okay, I thought this was kind of strange. Every once in a while I'll post new proxies to Google Groups. I was checking my backlinks today and I saw one coming from here. I obviously never registered or posted on that forum, it's some auto-posting thing setup, it must be grabbing a feed from a Google Group I posted in. It looks like it's a list of blocked proxies from some network. Has anyone seen anything like this before, or know what it is?
yeah submission software is a punishment for REAL proxy webmaster, since A list owner has check so much listings a regular submission takes much more time. I remember me that Tech-faq was a great traffic machine some time before but now you get of the first page because of all this crap. Freek if you need to write a script, make a great list script, something unique ')
Are there any good, but free scripts for a proxy topsite? I really want to set one up (not just for the money, but hopefully as a good resource to the proxy community). I was thinking, maybe I could set up a proxy resource site with articles and tips and tricks for proxies, both for webmasters and users, as well as the actual list itself. I wasn't going to include a forum, though.
