    It is i highly believe, for those who do not have enough budget to spend on professional seo services.
    Blog commenting certainly help them a a lot, as it helps in PR and little bit of traffic as well.

    Yes, it's useful for gaining backlinks as long as the blog is dofollow. But if it's not, it's still helpful for driving traffic to your site.

    When posting comments on another webmasters site think about what kind of comments you would approve on your own site.

    A good rule to follow is to READ the post/article first.

    Be polite, use proper English, leave more than a one line comment, keep on topic and a bit of a compliment to the author never hurts either.

    Dofollow comment links MAY help to improve your pagerank if the post itself has any pagerank. Nofollow comments can also be useful as they may still bring you some traffic.

    yup, Blog commenting is one of the most important things in doing SEO...but we need to comment regarding on what is really talk about on the blog...because if not..it is considered a Spam...

    quite right, the do follow comments are showing good backlinks but not affecting the serps much! don't know if its just a wordpress issue that google has figured out or comments in general has low to no impact on serps!
